Potluck winners needed please

Sausage Wontons are always a winner for us.

1. 1 package ranch dressing seasoning mix 2. 2 lbs hot sausage (Jimmy Deans not Fields) 3. 1 -8 0z sour cream 4. 2 packages mexican cheese 5. 1 package wonton wrappers (or make homemade wontons)


Put wontons in mini muffin pan (use whiskey shot glass to form wontons in muffin pan) bake 5 mins at 350 degrees. let cool completely.

cook sausage drain add sour cream, ranch dressing mix, and cheese fill wontons and cook 5 minutes.

Put layer of wontons in crock pot cover with wax paper, next layer and so on plug crock pot in and put on low heat, keeps them moist and warm.

makes 50 sausage wontons

A trick that my Mom used to be sure her Potato Salad disappeared first. She always put a couple drops of yellow food coloring in the mayo. It didn't change the taste, but it looked better than the others that were kind of pale.

Dill cabbage salad

Finely chopped/grate cabbage, 2 med carrots, 1 med red onion

Mix 2 cups mayonnaise and 1/2 cup of dill pickle juice together, I sometimes add garlic. Homemade dill pickle juice is so much better.

The amount of dressing depends on how much cabbage you use and the thickness of your dressing may change the amount of dill juice, depends on your preference for the amount of dressing.

Once you make cabbage salad this way, you won't make it any other way!


No bake cheese cake

28 crushed Graham wafers
1/2 cup butter
1 cup milk
2 envelopes of dream whip
8 oz. Cream cheese
1/2 cup white sugar
Canned pie filling cherry or blueberry

Mix wafers and butter together and then press into a 9x11 pan
Beat milk and the dream whip packets until fluffy
Beat cream cheese and sugar in a separate bowl until fluffy and then gently fold in the dream whip mixture.
Put mixture over wafers in the pan and chill 1-2 hours, until lightly firm
Top with pie filling and enjoy!

This dessert is great for camping as there is no baking!

Lasagna is a staple in my freezer for unexpected guests, camping, and bringing vittles to the bereaved or ill. I keep hearing about potlucks but have never attended one, LOL.

Sometimes I make a meatless lasagna with kale, broccoli rabe or spinach; other times it's all meat or a mix of veggies and meat.

These are favorites around our house and for easy get-togethers.

BBQs, Taverns, Sloppy Joes
Brown 2 lbs hamburger, then drain fat. Add 1 c ketchup and 1 c. Coca-cola. stir well and simmer on low heat, covered, for 15 minutes so flavors marry. Serve on buns. Freezes well. For potluck, keep warm in crockpot.

Ranch Pasta Salad
8 oz. rotini or macaroni, cooked and cooled
2 medium tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1 cucumber, chopped
1/2 cup real bacon bits or finely chopped cooked bacon
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
1 cup good mayonnaise (not salad dressing)
1/2 cup milk
Combine pasta, veggies and bacon in a large bowl. In a medium bowl add dressing mix to mayo and milk, and stir well with a whisk to combine thoroughly. Add dressing to large bowl and stir. Chill for one hour before serving.

Dessert?? Hard to go wrong with mini lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Line a mini muffin tin with mini cupcake papers. Prepare a boxed lemon cake mix according to directions on the package, and fill each cupcake paper 2/3 full. Bake for 1/2 the time stated on the box for regular sized cupcakes. Cool. For frosting, bring 4 oz cream cheese to room temp in a mixing bowl. Add two Tbsp milk and 2 to 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar. Beat until very smooth using electric mixer, starting on lowest speed. Frost cupcakes and store them in the fridge.

I'm always stuck in bringing Macaroni Salad or Potato Salad to every family get to gather.

Macaroni Salad
1 Package of salad macaroni cooked
12 hard boiled eggs chopped
1 small jar of pimento with out juice
3 stalks of celery or more
3/4 or more chopped onion
A cup or more of chopped little cubes of cheddar cheese.
Salt and Pepper
1 or 2 tablespoons of chopped dill pickle
Plenty of Best Foods Mayo to mix.
Salt and Pepper to taste

I do the same thing with potato salad without the cheese. Of course potatoes instead of macaroni.

Most requested dessert recipe, and the easiest one I make. Tube of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough. Pat it in a 9x13 pan and bake. Remove and spoon 3/4 cup peanut butter on top. Return to oven that you have turned off for 40 seconds. Smooth out. Add bag of semi sweet chocolate chips. Return to oven for a minute or two. Spread Chop 4 favorite candy bars and spread on top. I add m&m's for color. Let cool then cut and serve.

A friend brought this to our quilt retreat.....I vote this one as an ALL TIME WINNER...:) :)

Bag of store bought coleslaw packaged with a packet of dressing (I like Dole brand)
add one small can of crushed pineapple or pineapple tidbits, and one or two handfuls of dried cranberries.
Make ahead to give the flavors time to meld.
