- lizzieExplorerI haven't cooked quail in a long time but used to do so often. I don't think I had a crock pot. I put flour, salt, and pepper into a paper bag and shook the quail around inside. Then browned in a cast iron frypan. Then cooked in the pressure cooker with the rocker going for about 10 minutes. Then back to the frypan, smother with gravy and cook covered until tender. These were not farm raised quail. lizzie

Rinse and pat dry
Lay strips of bacon across the top of everything - Francesca_KnowlExplorerOld-Biscuit's recipe sounds fall-off-the-bone good if it's a crockpot recipe you're looking for!
The last time I cooked quail was for a very elaborate tea party for my small grandkids. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING had to be tiny. They still talk about the stuffed, roasted "mini turkey" each one had to him/her self. A lot of work, but it was worth it! - hokeypokeyExplorerNever had quail but I'd use it like pheasant, and with that I make Pheasant Wild Rice Soup.
- SWMOExplorerI second the crock pot.
- YC_1NomadI couldn't top old biscuits recipe but I like to pan fry mine after flouring with some seasoning added. Then make a milk gravy and use is for SOS. It has been a long time since I ate Quail. Nothing quite as fun as having a dog bring a beautiful meal back to you.
