- Tom_M1ExplorerAll-Clad is one of the best for stainless cookware. For an excellent alternative check out Tramontina Tri-Ply. I have several pans and they are almost identical to All-Clad. Check Walmart's web site for Tramintina.
http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=Tramontina - TvovExplorer IIWe have RevereWare copper bottom pots and pans. I have no idea where or if it is available today, as it was over 25 years ago that we bought the cookware.
A few years ago, wife wanted a big soup / corn / chili pot, and I ended up holding my nose and buying a stainless steel Farberware pot with clear top from Walmart. It has turned out to be great!
So I don't know what to tell you! - SolidAxleDurangExplorer IIAll-clad
- NYCgrrlExplorerLike Murphsmom, I've owned most of my pots, and specifically my stainless steel, for a long time. Got a starter set of Cuisinart s/s as a gift back in the late '70's/early '80's. Added on to the set with a sautoir pan from the same company and I've been good to go ever since.
I've no idea if they still make pots in the same manner or even if it's owned by the same people.
Nowadays, when buying pots and skillets as wedding gifts or similar, I steer the domestic newbies towards these 2 well vetted sources:
Serious Eats Pot Recommendations
and
Cooks Illustrated
Interestingly enough both sites note the Tramontina 3 ply S/S line as giving a great bang for your buck. The line can be found at Walmart but I've no idea if they sell their cookware individually.
HTH! - RevereWare copper bottom is my favorite but they are hard to find now and expensive. I bought Farberware stainless for our little motorhome and our Texas Room and also gifted my mom a set for Christmas last year. We love the pots and pans.
I also have an IKEA SS pot that I really like.
Dale - ronfishermanModeratorWife picked up some decent SS pans at IKEA.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I would only buy ones that can be used on an induction cooktop. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIBought a set of Lustre Craft/West Bend years ago.
Love cooking with them.
Even IF something should stick......easy wipe clean - MurphsmomExplorerI bought a set of Homemakers Guild cookware at a "cookware party" back when I was in my teens. I still have that same set and have never had another. It was expensive then, and I would hate to see what they would cost now. I guess what I am saying is that you get what you pay for. If you want a good set of saucepans that is going to last, don't skimp on them. BTW those pots and pans of mine are almost 50 years old and still every bit as good as the day I bought them.
- MaverickBBDExplorerI like Calphalon Signature 2-qt., you might want to look at Viking. I hear they make a nice one too.
