- othertonkaExplorerI made root beer back in the early 50's. We used Hires root beer Extract, water, sugar and you added Yeast to the mixture and let it work before bottling. that's what gave it the FIZZ. Bottle it too soon and the bottle's would explode. I still have the capper and some caps but I expect the cork is dried out. My family made root beer in the 40's so that's how I learned. Good memories.
- Francesca_KnowlExplorerFrankly, if it doesn't have sassafrass ROOT in it, it ain't real "root beer".
But I'm saying this as someone whose Grandma used to make it. I don't s'pose there are many folks out there who've ever actually tasted the real thing... - Executive45Explorer IIIAnd you thought this forum only contained "pretty faces"....took all of FOUR MINUTES before you had your answer....amazing...huh?.....Dennis
- NoelExplorerGood guesses. It is Virgil's brand root beer. And it is expensive. But worth it.

If O.P.'s lookin' for an actual brand name:
My guess is "Special Really Really Expensive" root beer, given all that " purified/no-this-n-that" language. ;) - sch911ExplorerRoot Beer.
