My husband loved this and wants more.
Enjoy! Debbie

Yummy Red Velvet Skillet Brownie

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
3 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons red food coloring

In a bowl and with a mixer, cream together the butter and sugar.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the eggs one at a time.
Then add in the vanilla.
Now sift together the flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder and add into the butter and sugar.
Then stir in the red coloring.
Spread the batter into a greased cast iron skillet.
Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes.
Allow to cool slightly to serve warm or let cool.

What size skillet is that? Will it work in a 10 1/4 or 9"?

My pan is 11 inches. I would use any size pan and smaller would give you thicker brownies. I am also you could bake in a 13x9 pan also.
  • Those look amazing.

I bet you could take those up just a notch, with some of that cream cheese swirl used in other brownie recipes.

Kind of make it more like the red velvet cake that uses the cream cheese frosting.

  • That is yummy looking......

I just finished off a hunk of Red Velvet Cake.

I'm not much of a cake eater but can not pass on anything Red Velvet.

I will be trying the brownies out.

    Thanks!
  • Oh I can't wait to make this for my daughter in law! She is just CRAZY about red velvet anything. Thanks so much
