I've got a little 20# mixed breed that I take camping. 95% of my camping is done at the beach at a site like this. Lots of sand since it's the beach.Last year was our first year camping so I always took his bed from home so that he at least had something familiar. I used his bed outside during the day and in the camper at night.Now that this is our second year and he's familiar with camping I'd love to get a new camping bed for him. I already have one that I can keep in the camper but I'd like one dedicated for outside use. Ideally, something that could be left outside without worrying about it getting wet. He stays in something like this when outside so it would be best if it fits inside. I don't have the exact measurements of it right now but it is fairly large.

Try a carpet store. They usually have ends left over from custom home jobs and could cut you a piece to fit.Might even let the dog pick his colour and grade of carpet. :B

We use an ex-pen like that. I have a smaller version of the woven patio mat. I put that down first, put their pop up canopy up, and they each have a cot that is raised off the ground.I don't like them laying on the ground because of fire ants.

Can those beds be left in the rain? If so, do they dry quickly?

They are like a canvas on the top side and sort of rubberized on the bottom side. If I know it's going to rain, I just pull the cover off and take it inside. I ordered that folding bed linked above and it should arrive this week. I bought the small 18"x18" bed.

We have this one from Camping World: Foldable Pet Bed. Our dogs love it! It's rated to hold up to 30 pounds, but even our 60 lb. boxer squeezes his big rear on it sometimes - lol! Our little dogs sometimes sleep on their own beds, or they'll sometimes share one (the dogs are around 12-13 pounds each). We have 2 of them that we put in our x-pen. I had the Coolaroo beds. I used them in my kennel for a while. Gave the boarding dogs something to lay on, up off of the cement in the outside runs.

They rust pretty quickly, and I had problems with dogs chewing the edges where the metal tubes go through the fabric. All of them got shredded.

I changed to the Kuranda beds in the kennel. Haven't had any dogs destroy them yet. (5 yrs and counting) Another case of getting what you pay for, as the Kuranda's are pricey.

As far as taking the Coolaroo's apart, I'd think that would be more hassle than I want.

We use a Coolaroo, it comes in three different sizes and can be taken apart and our dogs have one for indoor and one for outdoor at home.

Yes, similar to the chairs. These beds come folded up in a carry bag, the same as the chairs do. I've had them for 3 or 4 years and they're all good.

One other thing - Coleman has a version of this bed available in red. But that one, the cover has polyfill inside to make it more padded. If you have to launder it, the polyfill clumps up. Also I'd think that with the polyfill it would be a pain in the rear if they did get wet in the rain, as far as getting them dry through.

Wow! That's one nice beach condo for the pooch. You can also use a canvas raft with beach towel on it.

I wouldn't want the bed laying on the sand because of sand fleas. The raised bed on top of an outdoor run looks like a good idea. Being on the rug instead of in the sand will help keep them and your rv cleaner too.
