Which by the way, it goes without saying that when staying in Florida near any body of water day or night.....do NOT walk your dog anywhere around the water.

It only takes a second for the gator to get your dog. Gators are opportunists and act very quickly.

Yup on the Piranhas.
They show pictures in the news of people catching them all the time and they are 'huge'. There where a couple of them caught up in Wisconsin too. Pretty hardy little buggers for a tropical fish to withstand the winters up there.

I used to have a fish tank full of them. They were definitely cool to watch with their teeth hanging out!

Only thing was, after I would have a party I would find BBQ chicken wings at the bottom of the tank the next morning. I guess too much beer makes people think they like to eat BBQ chicken wings. :B

When I noticed many of the RV's having small garden fences around them, I asked a park ranger and he advised that it keeps the gators from hiding under the RV's at night and snatching the dogs when they come out. Not sure if you'll be in area where this could be a concern, but thought I would mention it as he said they lose a few dogs every year to gator attacks. I've never run into a campground that didn't allow you to potty your dog on YOUR site; but we've been to some that were pretty adamant about dogs remaining on the pavement as they were walked to the specified potty place (and I do that anyway, if for no other reason than a poo dropped in dire urgency, is much easier to pick up off pavement...LOL!). And 99.9% of the time, my guys are more than happy to wait until the designated spot.

x2. Some cgs let your dog do their thing anywhere and others require you take them to certain areas. Certainly always on a leash unless in the dog park.

It's all about dog safety at night!!!! Definitely leash at night in a campground!! I'm ready to leash my dogs at my house. The front and back yard is all gated in. What do you think, they get in a fight at 5:00 in the morning with a possum. I think my dogs want to go out and hunt instead of doing their business, LOL.

Ex-pens under the awning lowered to it's lowest position with a clamp on light and a pooper scooper.

Then they can do their thing in the dark, but you STILL have to clean up after them!

The only problem with this is depending on the location of the dog run, you may be walking through the entire park in your skivvies, jammies, what have you, at 3 in the morning.
