- dadmomhExplorerYou can never replace a much loved pet, but you can open your heart and home to one who needs you. Our Creator only made one Sam, but we found room to bring in these 2 babies that have brought their own uniqueness. We love Biscuit and Lily.....and rescue Cubbie and rescue Foxy and rescue Mickey. They're all special in their own way.
- rwm2_2000ExplorerI lost Midnight 11 yrs ago and thought I'd die from grief so I got Snowflake and managed to get through it...I got Pup 5 months ago because I knew Snowflake was getting old...I never let Pup be put in 1st place as long as she lived but now Pup is king of the house...He will be loved dearly but can never be loved more than I loved Snowflake or Midnight but JUST AS MUCH. IT SURE DOES HURT THOUGH!
- bplotnick1234ExplorerI am sorry to hear about your loss. I had a pug for 17 plus years and as she grew old I realized that I was keeping her here on earth for me, not for her. She was deaf, almost blind and had very few teeth, but I kept her here instead of letting her go and rest for all eternity. After a year went by I decided to look for another dog. I found a one year old Brussels Griffon in the pound in Salt Lake City. The wife and I went to look at this dog and we immediately recognized our lost companion. We adopted this dog and named him Bosco. This was 4 years ago and he never seemed to take to the name of Bosco. However, when we call him our old pugs name he tilts his head, his tail wags, and he runs right to you. Imagine that. I believe that our pugs spirit lives on in Bosco and we could not have a better companion. Once you move on you will love another dog or cat. Not quite the same as before as no one can exactly fill that spot in your heart, but your heart and soul will once again be full.
- chrisnpatExplorerWe lost our precious Maggie a couple weeks ago.......Now we have This sweet Little Summer Girl. Did I replace Maggie, H@ll no, but I did fill an empty spot, and now I'm giving another precious Angel a chance at a very spoiled life.
I will forever remember Maggie, sometimes with tears, sometimes with smiles...
It does get easier.... - nana23ExplorerSo sorry for your loss. I hope that the joyful memories you have with Snowflake will gradually ease the pain of loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this time.

I shouldn't be funny during a sad time, but if you think about it, our pets often spend more time with us than almost anyone, spouses included? And they don't ask to borrow money and they don't brag or complain or want to use the car. Most times, they're a true pleasure to be around - and they treat us like we're the center of their universe. They love unconditionally. Heck YES it rips a giant hole in our hearts when they leave.
This is a very good point. When you think of how much we need to overlook and/or forgive of our human counterparts, even those related by blood, the loyalty, adoration and modest needs of a beloved pet can't even compare. The price we pay when we have to let them go is worth it, although sometimes it seems too much to bear. To have missed knowing that whole little life force would have been an immense loss. - dakonthemountaiExplorerI have loved and lost so many of my precious pups over the years.... My Andy Bear (Red Siberian Husky) is now 12 years old and has had 2 surgeries last year; One for cancer and one for just a cycst. Cancer free at this point and he recovered very quickly. He was a rescue from the center divider of the 5 Freeway in Burbank, CA. He is absolutely my best friend and a combination of all the best attributes of every dog I have ever had in my life. I know his time is growing shorter and I can't bear the thought, though I know I can't stop time. That said, I cherish every second with him, as I'm sure you did with Snowflake. I send you love, a prayer for comfort and a ((hug)) to help you and your family through this very difficult time as Snowflake romps across Rainbow Bridge with no age related issues, no sickness and only the desire to romp and play while waiting for you some day! :)
