So if the generator on-line was $1,000 including shipping and normally $1,100 in the store and they matched that $1,000 price in the store you would be not OK with paying that without having to wait? I would not have a problem with that. Nowhere is it written that they have to pay their overhead, stock the item, and give it to you for less than your cost on-line would be and I for one would not expect them to.

Fortunately you are free to order it on-line and pay the shipping if the same cost without having to wait is not good enough for you.

I think you missed the point- the store evidently does discount to online total cost, which includes the cost of shipping. Presumably it's still less than the shelf price at the bricks-n-mortar store.

Doubt I missed the point, since several have stated that CW will match online prices, not "prices if we can add the cost of shipping to your home, even though you're standing here, and walking away with your purchase". I have never heard of a retailer matching anything based on "total delivered cost" and it isn't something that seems fair enough for me. Bottom line is, I show up to buy a Honda generator that is listed on line for $950, and the store has six on hand, I'm not paying $950 PLUS another $50 in non-existent shipping fees, so I can carry it out the door myself. Sorry, but assuming that this info. is correct, it just serves to irritate customers in a semi-successful attempt to increase their profit.

So, by that logic, if you do live 120 miles from the store, and you are picking something up at shelf price, do you get to bill them for your mileage?

Kind of like before I got smart and stopped wasting time doing business with Sears. They had a push mower in a sale flyer, and I stopped by to pick one up. They told me that they were out of stock, and that they would order one for me, and call. When I went to pick it up, they had added $25 to the bill for shipping. I told them to keep it, and took my money to Home Depot.

I occasionally frequent the Bartow FL CW. I asked a while back and was told to print out the on line price and bring it and they will match. Have done this, and on multiple items the cashier has gone through the papers with me and adjusted the price, no problem. I have been satisfied with doing this.

The local CW store has matched the CW online Price for me. Worth asking your store to match.

The question is not answerable in any this-is-the-rule way.

As I see it, you have three options for getting the answer:

- Make a list of online prices for items you're interested in and call the store to check;
or
- Take the list of online prices with you when you go there;
or
- If you have one of those newfangled "Smart Phones", just stand there in the store and check the online prices while you're shopping.
