Mark as read, do not delete.. on computer moved to a non-synced folder

What "is best" is different for everyone. This may help. IMAP mail is stored on the email server much like "webmail". If IMAP mail is deleted from a device it will be deleted from the server. POP3 mail is downloaded to the client (the program running on your PC or tablet) and if you have more than one device, each device will download mail that is new to that device and store it on the device. With POP3 the mail remains on the server for a time determined by the client so it can be downloaded to other devices. Most POP3 clients give the option of deleting from the server when you delete from the device.

Note: When I say "device" above it could be a PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Thanks for the response... I did as you suggested BUt never had the Delete Email from server option as a choice under Incoming Server... Nothing was listed about deleting anything... Maybe I should try another email app rather than the one that came with the S7.. Thanks again..

I have been unable to accomplish what I set out to do.. which is once I read and delete an email on my phone or tablet, be sure it is still available on my main home computer.. I am going to try another email program soon but I have another question before I hit the frustration wall again. Is it best to have all of my email accounts be POP or IMAP? The S7 is a nice phone, but Samsung apps are pretty clunky. Simple thing to do is switch to Gmail. You can forward other accounts to your Gmail, you don't have to change everything.

With a Gmail or other web-based mail, the mail does not reside on your phone or PC, and will not take up valuable storage space.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is an exceptionally nice smartphone. For a terrific resource in regard to the S7 visit this forum.

OP, This is the correct way to deal with the problem. No need to disable email sync. Example.. In K9 mail on the S7, go to K9 Mail, settings and "Fetching Mail" and change the settings there to remedy your issue. You need to set setting(s) "Sync Server Deletions", When I delete a message" and Erase deleted messages on server".
