- Dutch_12078Explorer IIUsing the satellite receiver to dial in the dish works well when the dish is located close enough to the RV. I've set my dish up as much as 150' away though, and I use an SF-500 signal meter that identifies the satellites and sounds a tone when it's locked on. It only displays one satellite at a time, but switching only takes a few button pushes. The meter costs about $65, and they're readily available on eBay and other sources. My typical setup time from pulling out the tripod to starting the receiver update is about 15 minutes.
- bob213ExplorerAlthough discontinued, some of the Accutrac III+ signal finders are still available. They find all 3 sats for you. It's a great meter and can be found here for less than 1/2 the normal price.

This puts me pretty close and I finish up with the dish finder on the tv screen. - K_CharlesExplorerThe signal meter in the Dish receiver works for me also.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIYes, Echostar.. The DISH satellite receiver is everything you want. (With one tiny exception).
Use a battery operated portable TV to watch the Antenna pointing screen while you aim the antenna. The software in the receiver is the equal of a Bird Dog satellite meter. (cost over 1,000 used) and it is free with the receiver.
The signal bar shows the signal strength and when you find a sat it will show the number.. You can then easily change sats to find if you are looking with the right LNB, but odds are the receiver takes care of that too.
This is, in fact, the meter I recommend. - 2oldmanExplorer II..
