Double charging for on-line orders - NOT FIXED

When traveling on business before and staying at a hotel, I came across one that actually had a sign on the counter mentioning holds for incidentals. They would hold a certain amount on your card (usually around $100) for any incidentals (room service, movie rental, honor bar, damage, etc). Their sign said it could take up to either a week or two weeks for it to be released off your card. Can't remember the exact time but I was a little shocked how it could take so long nowadays. I questioned the clerk and they said it depended on your bank or card carrier. That some of them are slower than others at doing it. You would think with today's technology, that it would be same day.

Card companies charge interest on monthly average balance if they hang on to that $100.00 on tens of thousands of accounts it could add up to an interesting amount.

I often run into that when staying at hotels. It a common policy and I expect it. I never run into this situation until now when buying something on line. Hopefully the duplicate charge will be canceled by tomorrow. That will be day four.

Convenience stores often will tax each item individually rather than the total amount. Due to rounding up, it is one only one or two cents per dollar. Multiply it by the average store doing 1.2 million dollars per year, and with some chains having thousands of stores, we are talking big dollars.

Also, an ignorance of the sales tax laws could come into play. Florida's tax law is so complex that items that are exempt,are often charged sales tax. No deceit intended, just too hard to figure out.

Just received the item and packing slip. Something I did not notice previously is that they charge sales tax on the item AND shipping. Shipping is not taxable (at least in NY). Still not a lot over but it does show that they have a poor on line system that is not set up correctly.

Not National Rallys? They had several last year. Are they not having any this year? Was that announced officially? And I will have to disagree with you about them not caring about fixing things. I believe they do. You can't begin to repair problems caused by fires until you put them out. I don't think Marcus, Mike and the others have admitted to it being perfect. Heck, I wish my job was perfect. You would think that with where I work having been around for 100 years, that it would be. And there are many more people working for it than with GS/CW...go figure.

That would be a failure of their on-line inventory system. Their solution is to hold out twice the amount of the order.

They are an on line store. Does not matter if they are Amazon, Bob's Market, or Camping World. It should work correctly. I don't expect to have twice the amount of my purchase tied up when I place an order with anybody.

I doubt many others would like $200 held from their account every time they placed a $100 order.

Didn't say it was right. But maybe a reason as to why it's happening. We've discussed it on here a while back about the online operation. It is not perfect by any means.
