getting recordings from Dish hopper to 211

We have Dish network with a hopper and a joey for the house. We bought the dish "darth vader helmet" looking sattelite and the 211 receiver for the RV. We formatted a hard drive with the 211 and now want to transfer programs we've recorded on the hopper to the 211 but the hopper won't recognize the hard drive. Any suggestions?
  • I don't believe it can be done. Even if you can get the Hopper data onto a hard drive it will re-format the hard drive when you plug it into the 211.
  • Bill, thanks for the quick response. I was afraid of that. The king dome is only compatible with the 211 and the hopper in house is not compatible with the 211 receiver. I'm going to have one upset DH.!
  • If you want to you could take the Hopper along with you. I have used ours many times just to view the recorded content.
You can also make the hopper work to receive TV. However you have to be careful which dish you have and I think also might need the solo node.
If you just want to view recordings, then you just plug it in to the TV and power.
  • Thanks for the suggestion, Dan! What he wanted to do was transfer a bunch of recordings he has on the hopper to an external hard drive then plug that hard drive into the 211 to watch them while we're in the RV. He wants to leave the hopper at our home recording shows the are one while we're gone.
  • Scroll down this link to the EHD compatibility chart. Notice that the 211 series receivers equipped with an EHD are only compatible with other 211's and the new Wally receivers. With two Hoppers, you could move the EHD between them as we do. We have one Hopper installed in our upstate NY vacation cottage, and the other in our motorhome. When we're away from the cottage, we use the Dish Anywhere app to program the cottage Hopper to record programs we miss while underway for later watching. We also bring the EHD with us, loaded with any recordings from the cottage Hopper we haven't seen yet. When we get back to the cottage, we can watch any recordings on either Hopper on both Hoppers. The mobile Hopper does require a non-dome dish though, such as a free standing tripod mounted multi-LNB dish, or a roof mounted multi-LNB dish like the Winegard Trav'ler.
