Great Service from Rand McNally

We purchased a (Good Sam) Rand McNally GPS a couple of years ago. During our last trip I began having a problem with the USB port maintaining connection for power and charging. I called Rand McNally tech service to discuss the problem. After looking up my registration information they found that our unit was just out of warranty. How many times have we heard that HOWEVER Rand McNally offered a one time extension of warranty service. I sent the unit in to be repaired and received emails on the update of the repairs. The end result was Rand McNally sent us a brand new unit after they transferred all of our saved data. To say I was surprised is an understatement. Thank you Rand McNally and Good Sam for teaming up to provide excellent customer service that exceeded my expectation. We received the new unit within 14 days of sending out the old one. This was over 4th of July holiday weekend. It is so nice to deal with companies that respect customer service. If anyone is looking at purchasing a new GPS unit I would recommend Rand McNally. Safe traveling everyone.
  • I, too, have experienced great customer service from Rand McNally. At first I thought I was out of luck with the problems I was having. I posted here about the problem and I soon received a private message from a member here, I believe, RandMcSam. He is a rep for Rand McNally and he keeps an eye open here for people experiencing problems with their GPS unit and gets personally involved to get things taken care of.

  • IMHO great customer service starts with and comes from employee empowerment. An employee was empowered to extend your warranty which allowed for the repair or replacement of your defective unit. That resulted in you submitting this review and as a result priceless advertising for the company and their product. Why can't more companies get this basic premise? It seems that today it's about micro management and bottom lines.

There's my rant for the day. Now I'll get a cup of coffee and then go cut the grass.
