DW has iPhone 4. She placed a call to a friend who has iPhone 5. When the friend answered, a picture of someone, not the DW, appeared on her iPhone 5 as the person calling. How can this be? DW knows the person in the picture, but has never taken her picture (it appears to be a portrait) and the picture is not on DW's phone anywhere. I did not even know that the person receiving the call could have a picture show up, much less some one besides the person calling. This is the first time we know about this happening. I deleted all the pictures on DW's phone, she call the iPhone 5 person back and the picture of the "other" person is still there. Can you explain this to me? I'm going to go by Verizon tomorrow or Saturday to see if they can explain, but thought it might be something simple that I just don't know about. Thanks, Rob.

Does dw belong to Facebook? Is this one of her friends? How about Google Friends, Twitter..- something- connecting you two and perhaps the called person.My Android phone has picked up FB pics of friends. Perhaps that's happened via Gmail.. I'm really not sure.It's amazing how much of this stuff is starting to connect. However, why the WRONG picture would appear is really bizarre.

Does the receiver know who the picture person is?I can add photos to a phone # perhaps the receiver attached wrong photo to your #!

Go to the iPhone 5's contact, hit edit and see if the wrong picture was attached there.

If set up, caller ID would show up BEFORE the call is answered, not after.You aren't referring to Face Time, are you?

Receiver does not know the person in the picture. DW does. DW does not do facebook, twitter or otherwise. Picture shows up at ringing time, not after call is answered. Not face time. Picture is only a casual acquaintance from workplace. No contact otherwise. I am on hold now with Verizon wireless, since first posting. Round and round we go!

The owner of the phone finally took it to the Verizon store. The first thing they tried was to edit the contact information and delete the picture. Guess what, there was no picture associated with the contact, nor any other contact for that matter. HMMMM. She said that just befuddled them cause they said, as we have said,"it ain't possible". but yet there is was when the DW called her at the store. They then took the phone and hooked it up to some machine and she said they "flashed" the phone and updated the operating system and restored her contacts, etc. and voila.. the pic is no longer there. To verify, she had the DW call again and no pic showed up. Verizon said they had never seen this before and could not really explain it, but all is well now..I guess!

The picture in question may not be in the phones Cameral roll or pictures library. I took a picture of my wife using a duck dynasty app (adding a beard of course) and used that picture as my wife's contact picture. (She hates it but that's a different story.) I have since a) deleted the duck dynasty app, and b) the picture is not in my pictures library. Yet it is still attached to her contact entry.

The picture is also NOT on my IPad mini yet when I bring up her contact info there, the bearded picture is there .

The owner of the phone should be able to edit the contact information and delete the picture or select another one more appropriate.

Agreed. The receiving phone owner needs to check the contact info for your DW.

I can assure you that the pic that shows up is NOT on the phone anywhere. The owner of the phone has never seen or heard of the person in the pic. She reviewed all pics right away. Neither DW or owner of phone have ever spoken to the person in the pic on the cell phone or land line phone for that matter. I hope she will get to the Verizon store soon and maybe shed some light on this bizarre happening.

Whoever this person is, the picture exists in the iPhone, wether in a mislabeled contact, or sitting in the photo, sent as a pic in an IM, etc... It's in the phone somewhere. How it got linked, who knows but it sure isn't worth 'hacking' a phone to get it there. It's not the 1st time I have heard of a phone mixing pix, but never an iPhone.

I think that the receiving phones owner has connected the wrong picture to your wife's phone number. Maybe the receiving phones owner did not know that she had accidentally added a picture in her contact list.
