Satellite App

I use dish pointer pro. Google play store.

I use Satellite AR, which was also found at the Google Play store.

It gives lots of different satellites, including the International Space Station. It works great for us.

I use the dishformyrv app. And I have a Tailgater also.

I also seen a fellow camper using one of those apps. I thought it was great so I download it on my Android tablet. As of yet I have not figured out how to use it. Can anyone explain the steps you need to go through to get it to work. I have Direct TV. I have tried several of the apps and I still cannot see the sats. Maybe someone can help this old man.

With the dishformyrv app you just open the app and hold your phone up toward the southern sky. The app opens the camera to show a picture of the sky. Moving it around you will see a number of red dots appear with numbers corresponding to the sat numbers. It uses the phone's camera to show the sky and superimposes the red dots on the picture of the sky to show the sat locations. If there are no trees or other obstructions over the red dots then you have a clear shot to the sats.

I use SatFinder for Android. I have a Winegard G2 dish so I just use it to find a spot that's open in the direction of the satellite, set the dome up and let it do its thing.

I down loaded a couple of free sat apps. Didn't work for me. I found down loading a compass app, looking at Dish #s on the TV, look for opening in the trees, if any, seems to work best. Takes all of 5 minutes to set up my manual dish. The reason for compass app is it isn't effected by metal objects and seems more stable for pointing the dish. I can lay my smart phone right on top of the dish unit when pointing. My 65 year old boy scout compass didn't seem that accurate for pointing although it got me home a couple of times. :B

Load the AR app. When started, click on DirecTV sats. Point the camera toward the sky and move it 360 degrees or until the DirecTV sats show up. No other sats will be displayed. Point your dish in the general vicinity of the sats and gently move the dish up and down and side to side until the beeps on the TV move quickly. Lock the sat dish and you're done. Best app out there....Dennis
