I'm not sure if you mean that it's pretty difficult to intercept an email and doctor a pdf attachment, in which case I'd agree with you that none of my documents are worth intercepting.

But, from a legal perspective, an unsecured PDF has often not been considered the same as an original in those cases where an original is required. However, if you create a PDF with Acrobat and secure it with a password then it is acceptable (or it was with our corporate attorneys).

I use a service called metrofax for $79/year.

I find that insurance companies still use faxes to authorize repairs and also to deliver payment information.

This may be true, but if the "business" is a governmental entity, such as the State retirement agency from which I get a check, you don't have the option of finding an alternative supplier.

FWIW, unless things have changed recently PDFs sent by email are not considered secure documents, from a legal perspective, unless they are password-protected. Some firms are using online document signing services to avoid having to worry about sending, printing, signing, and returning documents.

I did not read every response, however taking a picture of the document, and then printing the picture can work with a lot of things.

And a picture only requires a small amount of memory, so the cost is normally included in the text message cost, or nominal cost either way.

A fax probably will require a lot of data transmission.

Not positive but I think my VA uses FAX only and not E-Mail.

I use a free E-Fax number to receive faxes. I don't send many faxes so didn't want to sign up for a service that costs $x per month. I found a service called PamFax to send faxes. I had to buy some credits (paid about $10 5 yrs ago) and there are no monthly fees. Faxes are charged at a rate of $0.13/page. After 5 years, I still have $7 of my original credit left, it doesn't expire. That $7 credit will most likely last me many more years.

PamFax has clients for iOS, Android, Windows & Blackberry. It even integrates into MS Word so you can Fax right from within Word.
