Too Much Spam with Yahoo

I couldn't imagine using anything other than Yahoo. Spam goes to Spam. If I find something undesirable in my Inbox, I move it to Spam and it doesn't reappear. Easy.

I will say though, the Yahoo spam detector must be set very high because I always go through my Spam folder and if I find something of importance, it is an email from someone I know with a "hotmail" account.

I use Yahoo now since they locked me out of all my Outlook emails. :R

I do NOT get any spam emails. Spam does not just come out of the blue.

How many spam emails you get is based on how MANY places you give your email address to, how many sites you buy from and give your email address and on and on and on.

Each and everyone of them say right in their privacy policy that they DO and WILL sell your email address. So multiply that where you give your email address and who they give it to by 10 thousand when all is said and done. THAT is where all the spam comes from.

Heck I wanted to apply on line for one of my medical plans for e pay. I read the privacy policy and they said they DO share your email address with third forth etc parties. It did say you could opt out of them sharing it.......I followed that link and guess what?

It was a special google app that you had to install on your desktop to opt out of them sharing it. :R:E:R Ya, like I'm going to install anything google regarding my health plans and the biggest abuser of your email address and info.

It's a vicious circle out there. I don't buy on line and I don't plug my email address in on line anywhere. Henceforth I get no spam.

Take the time to read those privacy policies before you just click ok. It is frightening where and with whom they share your info. AND what generates all your spam.

I've had my Yahoo account for years, even got an email from them once thanking me for my 12 years of being a customer. I use it mostly when I register for a site that I don't fully trust as far as spam. If they are legit later on I move them to my primary account. If you just access the Yahoo account from the web I see nearly no Spam email. However if you use it to access via a phone or computer directly you end up bypassing their spam filters and they are sent through to your spam system.

I use yahoo! as my primary email account. Their filters plus my filters in my client application means about one spam per week gets into my inbox.

I stopped using their webmail quite some time ago because of the ads on the webpage and the sponsored spam in every inbox. Doesn't happen with a client application.

Other than occasional outages of the entire service, there's nothing wrong with yahoo! the way I use it.

Yahoo mail has one of the best spam filters in the industry.

G Mail works well for me, catches 99% of spam and never gets to my in box. :)

I don't get it. Once a place gets your email address, what difference does it make what email server you have. If they send an email to an email address, its going to go there, no matter what it is. Who are you "yahoo" haters trying to BS?
Or are you just talking one spam filter being better than the next ? Get real, if a filter gets too tight...or selective, it will start spamming the good mail, DUH !

I did not know Yahoo was still in business. :)

agreed.. I have accounts running on Yahoo, Gmail, and AOL. I NEVER use the Yahoo account, it just sits there but yet I can find Home Loans, Solar, New Car, Viagra, forgien meds, $15 mil inheritances from the king Of Somalia, and the list goes on. If you mark some of them as spam, it will help. However, other email services are better at catching it than Yahoo. Between that and their constant down-time, I switched to Gmail several years ago.

You can forward your Yahoo mail to your gmail for a while, to make sure you get everything changed that you need to.
