Traveling with laptop or ipad??

If you must have a keyboard for your iPad you can use the USB adapter sold by Apple. It is sold as an adapter for downloading pictures from your camera. It also accepts a regular USB keyboard. An error message will popup but it will work.

Verify that all the functions you want to use at all the places you make financial transactions are supported by the browzer on your tablet device, or that the institutions have alternative apps.

I've found that I can't pay bills from my CU account from the browser on my iPad, though some other activities work. This is a pop-up management issue.

You say iPad, but a Galaxy is Android, so Chrome is the browser you need to check out.

I don't think your laptop is any more secure than, let's say a Blackberry. If the hacker(s) want, they will get you. The only safe way is avoiding the internet for financial matter.

We use thisiPad Camera Connection Kit to download pictures from camera to iPad. When we get home the pictures are on our computer.

You can backup to the cloud (if available) or for under $10 you can buy a USB adapter cord which will allow you connect a thumb drive to any tablet via the charging port.

Only drawback I know of is the keyboard, I am a touch typist and like a real keyboard.

NOTE I can plug a real keyboard into my Galaxy S-III and assume the same adapter would work with your pad, but there is only one port on my S-III (do not know about your pad) and I can not both supply power and the keyboard at the same time.

In the past I have always traveled with my trusty laptop to receive / send email and tend to financial matters (when secure connection available)... Now I want to do the same thing but only with my samsung Galaxy 10.1 pad instead of the Windows Laptop. The apps are installed on the pad.. just wondering about the drawbacks (if any) of just using the pad (when using a secure wifi connection)... comments?

If your just surfing the web, sending emails etc then a tablet which do anything a your laptop can do ... and it's more convenient. In my case I use my cell phone as a hotspot for my tablet - something I couldn't do with my old laptop.
