Tucson requires a bit of skew but if your controller is showing *110, *101, *119 then the skew should be set properly. A visual inspection should allow you to tell if the dish seemed to be skewed properly. The most common problem is having the reflector itself damaged. Even a slight ding or warp can cause reception problems. If you have someone inside, you can power off the controller (push power and enter together so it does not stow....listed in the instructions as emergency power off) With the antenna pointed and powered off you can move the antenna gently left and right a tiny bit as well as move the skew....ever so gently....and have someone else watch the signal strength numbers on 99 or 103 (not the S versions) to see if any numbers come up. If you can't see any major changes in those numbers I would get a new LNB and start there.

Ok Bill. The wiggling didn't result in any signal showing up on 99ca. The reflector and arm show no sign of damage but I know from experience that it often isn't obvious. I'll order an LNB at our next site (Grand Canyon) for delivery in Vegas late in the week. Maybe it'll fix itself going to Grand Canyon. I'll report results. Thanks for all of your help, as always.

At least you can watch the missing channels in SD until you can find the problem One other thing I didn't mention is that the problem could be your SWM8 hardware. Double check all of your connections and test the output voltage of your PI29 power inserter (if you have a PI28 you might want to replace that). I think that an issue with this hardware is actually a more likely scenario.

I have a PI29. The green power light is on. How do I check the voltage...at the SWM8 or the PI? Assume looking for 29V at the coax connector on the PI? If at the SWM, which connector: Sat 99(18V)/101(13V) or 103/110/119(18V) or SWM1/PWR? Thanks! Maybe this thread will helps someone else down the road too.

You should have 29V(ish) on the roof inside the coax that connects to SWM1 on the roof. Unfortunately, that still does not eliminate the possibility that the SWM8 switch is bad so if you replace the LNB without change you might have to replace the SWM8 to see if that's the problem. I have never had to troubleshoot a SWM8 so I have nothing to offer other than speculation.

Bill: 28.8V. So guess the plan is to have a LNB (SL5K4NR0-02) sent to me in Vegas. If that doesn't fix it, get a DTV 8 Channel SWM sent. Can't thank you enough.

If your using a SWM antenna the receiver should be set to
#17-slimline and #1 SWM
At the house I have and older antenna requiring a B band converter
But the MH has a newer traveler with SWM
So I have to change the setting when I move the receivers into the MH.
Check your antenna setting.

Bill, got new LNB installed. Rebooted and reaimed. In plains of Wyoming with no obstructions anywhere. Strengths up (except 103) but still missing the HD's on some channels e.g., Travel, CMT, NBC East, and others.

Strengths:
101, 98
110, 76
119, 95
99ca, 87
99cb, 80
103 ca and cb, nothing.

New SWM 8 time?

That's what it sounds like to me. I would first disconnect all coax connections at the SWM switch (on the roof?) and verify that there is no corrosion. They should be filled with di-electric grease and if they are then they will be clean and shiny. It that's all good then I would make the next troubleshooting step a new SWM8 switch.
