What dash cam do you use?

Good point. The one that was highly remomnded is Transcend Information 32GB Micro Card.

Interesting law, likely to prevent hanging stuff in their line of sight.
While my dash cam is windshield mounted, it is hidden behind the rearview mirror.

I just looked into the new 4K models on Amazon with WIFI and GPS, including Azdome and Rove. I ordered the Rove for my daughter. No report yet, just ordered it yesterday.

The most recent version of the Viofa A119 series seems to keep coming up as a best buy. I am going to seriously take a closer look at that model.

I did lots of research and afterwards bought the Viofa A119, version 2, and really love the form factor. No dangling cords it you get the $10 GPS attachment.

I've been thinking about a dash cam also. Better check the laws in the states you travel in the most. I NM you can't attach anything to the windshield so I have to get a dash mounted or mirror mounted unit. Any ideas about this type?

Already had the nuvi, so I picked up a Dash Cam 55 with voice control, like the nuvi. On sale. Sweet.

Had a near miss a few weeks back at an intersection we go through all the time. As we approach it, I see a guy pull up at right angles to the thru roadway that we're on. He stops, because he has the stop sign (we don't have a stop sign), everything looks and feels normal. Then, just as we're about to roll thru at speed, he starts to pull through the intersection. The rest was a blur, I guess he sees us coming at him at 45mph, probably soils himself, and stops abruptly about halfway into our through lane, in the intersection. I reacted and managed to perform evasive maneuvers and avoid contact, as I had just enough roadway left to avoid his nose and the ditch on the right side. If he hadn't locked them up after his faux pas, we'd still be there sorting it out.
And so, the dash cam purchase.

I have narrowed it down to capacitor based cameras because of the lack of needing a battery and the higher ability to resist heat.

The street guardian looks good and is not horribly expensive.

maybe. but in our case it's about as simple as it can be. the initial setup took about 15-minutes. after the set it up the rest was automatic. when the engine starts the camera starts recording and continues to record until the engine is turned off. the view is wide angle so there's no driver interaction needed while on the move. given what we've witnessed over the past 32-seasons I'm glad we purchased this.
