Will a Winegard Carryout Dome (GM-1518) survive roof

The Carryout is nothing more than a rooftop antenna with a plastic handle. Get the proper mounting roof hardware from Winegard.

Some one familiar with reading a multi meter would be advisable. You should be able to cut off the power cable plug from the Carryout and attach it to the existing cable. Before you do that, plug the Carryout cable in to a 12 volt source and measure the voltage on the pins of the connector. After you attach it to the existing cable and plug into power at the other end, verify that you have the same voltage and polarity. You should use the suggested AC to 12 VDC adapter suggested by Winegard. Some have reported that their adapters didn't work because they didn't supply enough current. I asked Winegard about mounting it on the RV for travel. They said it wasn't designed for travel on the outside of an RV. I have a friend that mounted his permanently and he hasn't had a problem.

There is no roof mounting hardware available for the Carryout.

The existing wiring for your AS-2003 will work fine as a power source and the existing coax cables can be used for the output. This assumes that the wiring to the AS-2003 was hardwired into the coach 12V system and did not use a separate 120V to 12V adapter. If that's the case you may just need to update that adapter. Otherwise, the only issue you will have is how to mount the unit so you don't cause problems. Winegard makes a ladder mount for the Carryout that would allow you to leave it above the roof most of the time but also move it should you park under a tree. They don't make any kind of a kit to mount the unit directly to the roof. If you come up with something just be sure it does not change the integrity of the dome or it's ability to let water in or out.
If the unit is still under warranty drilling any holes in the unit may void your warranty.

The Winegard Minimax has feet for permanent installation. I have seen several of these roof mounted.

To those questioning the mount, what dan-nickie posted in the past about tripod, no legs, on stainless L brackets. When under trees, removable to place on a 50' tether out of a bay.

Thanks, Bill. Won't be drilling any holes... will be using the base plate of the Winegard Tripod and mounting that to stainless L brackets.

That should work just fine. Just be sure you also have some way for the dome to stay locked into the base as it's just a twist that holds it in place but it can also untwist.
