Win 10 Forced Updates

When I upped to windows 10....I searched online and found out how to stop auto updates.

That's always been an option in previous versions of windows. So times a little hard to locate.

My mother in law is 94. All she does is email and basic web surfing. Two years ago we got her an iPad. Since then no more tech calls.
Best money ever spent.

Every time I turned on my last laptop, it wanted to force install Windows 10. I would decline. Every time I went to shut down the computer, it wanted to force install Windows 10. This went on for about 2 weeks, when all of a sudden, the computer would not come up at all ... blue screen of death.

After several days of trying to it to work again, I finally did a complete system restore, back to factory install. And you guessed it, after getting the thing to work correct again, next day ... wanted to do the forced install. Nope!

Next time I turned it on .... blue screen of death again.

I did another factory install. Next day, blue screen of death.

I swear Microsoft installed stealth code to force the update or shut down the machine if the user refused to update to Windows 10. It's a conspiracy I tell you!

Well, I could not save the laptop without putting more money into a fix than the cost of a new laptop. So, considering the hard drive had been reformated about 6 times trying to fix this, I ended up just throwing out the laptop and was forced to get a new laptop. You guess it! It came with Windows 10.

Unbelievable though, I had to do a system restor on the new one also after the frist 24 hours. But after that, I've not had any more problems. It's now working nice. It's a conspiracy, I say, it's a conspiracy!

I have a whole stack of old laptops that have older operating systems on them, nothing wrong with the computer itself, just Microsoft forcing garbage that's toasted them. Conspiracy! yes it is!

I installed Windows 10 over my Windows 7 desktop. After three days, I went back to Windows 7. You have 30 days to revert back to your older version of Windows. After that, Windows 10 deletes a file called 'Windows Old'. Can't go back to old windows after that.

There are a ton of responses to that particular inquiry. Do you try them all, or just the one recommended by someone who has actually tried one that works? I've discovered that not all responses to a question really work like they are touted to.

A link would be nice, and the considerate thing to do.

How else are you going to learn anything?
Somebody spends an hour or more learning something on their own and you sit there waiting for it to be handed to you.
