Winegard carryout can not find signal

Folks I have a Winegard carryout and use dish, I am at a campground with no trees I had the carryout sitting on bedroom slide out and it worked perfect for 3 days, I had to move the carryout to work on an issue on my trailer all I did was unhook wires and set it on a picknick table for a couple hours and then I put it back up where I had it before and now it just runs all the time you can hear it moving around in there and it will not find the signal, I have tried checking all connections, I have turned it off several times, I have tried plugging receiver and still no signal. Any one have any suggestions, do you think my carryout has shot craps?

As eHoefler says, do a full reboot of the receiver. Un plug the Carry out, turn off receiver, unplug the receiver from the 120 volt power source. Wait 10-15 seconds then plug it back in. Turn on receiver, plug the Carry out back in.

  • As eHoefler says, do a full reboot of the receiver. Un plug the Carry out, turn off receiver, unplug the receiver from the 120 volt power source. Wait 10-15 seconds then plug it back in. Turn on receiver, plug the Carry out back in.
  • I would suspect that it is something other than the Carryout but weirder things have happened. I would go into the receiver setup menu (menu>6>1>1) and click on the Check Switch button. Don't do anything there other than verify that you still have an SW64 switch type. Hopefully you do.
Go back to the previous screen and be sure the satellite is set to 119 and transponder #11. Now plug in the Carryout and watch that screen to see if the antenna will lock to 119 or if any signal strength appears.
If nothing is happening I would check the end of the coax cable where it connects to the Carryout and verify that you are seeing 13 and 18VDC in the cable itself verifying that the receiver is doing its job. If that's all good then you should remove the dome and do a visual inspection while the dome is in search mode to see if anything looks out of the ordinary.
Let us know how that goes.
  • Unplug the receiver and the carry out, wait 10 seconds or more. Plug the receiver in and then the carry out. Let it do its thing. You may have to go to system setup and go through the check switch operation.
  • Two likely causes. Dead LNB or dead control board. Had similar experiences with my traveler this spring. Still dont know what happened to that unit. No matter what it was DOA. Now i have a new antenna on the roof, well see how this one lasts.
