I haven't read all of the replies, and there are a lot, so this may have been covered already. If you live in the RV full-time you could come out ahead financially. My monthly housing cost is around $1,400 right now. If I buy a trailer to live in and pay $500 per month RV park rental I can recover a lot of depreciation with that other $900. In 3 years I plan to retire and live in an RV full-time. Some of the time I will travel and pay higher park rental because I will be short-term, so it will be about break-even, but I get the bonus of being able to travel around the country and not break the bank as much as staying in hotels. I remember a wealthy tech company owner was asked how much money he has and he replied "I have enough money that I don't have to spend two nights in the same city for the rest of my life if I don't want to." I like that answer. I can do that with an RV when I start collecting Social Security.
