- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWe've found no site that lists all campgrounds - even Allstays does not because we've tried to find certain places on it and were unsuccessful.
There are sites for RV parks, public parks (national, national forests, state parks) and if you Google a particular town you may find a city or county park. Even for full hookup parks, Reserve America will not have all of them because there are many parks that don't even accept reservations.
So just zero in on what type of campground you want and go from there. - ramgunnerExplorerBelieve it or not, Google Earth can be really useful. Aside from the search feature, use the map view to take a look at a place you want to go. In the basic map view, you will often find that RV parks and campgrounds tend to have features (road layouts, etc) that you will be able to find with a little experience. You can switch to the photo view to clarify when you think you found one. It also gives you a chance to look at the approaches, sites, and surroundings.
- rockhillmanorExplorer IIJust keep in mind if you use CG Reviews it is NOT a complete list of CG's within a given area. Nor is GoodSam or Woodalls. You will miss out on some of the nices CG's if you limit yourself to the above search sites.
Googling campgrounds in the area you want to stay seems to be the best way. - tatestExplorer IINo. There is not even a website or directory listing all campgrounds in the U.S. Based on the number of campgrounds and small RV parks I pass traveling the "back roads" through the middle of the country, I suspect the best listings might include half of the RV parks, and fewer than a quarter of the campgrounds.
Most listings have "minimum service" criteria that tend to exclude small public campgrounds in out of the way places, and "convenience" RV parking at gas stations, small motels and travel centers. Listings are starting to cover RV parking at casinos, but not the camping networks at farms and vineyards. RV parks that primarily serve seasonal workers mixed with permanent residents, and RV parking in mobile home communities are also usually excluded.
Most of these places that are not in listings will not have reservations systems, so you would not find them by availability date even if they were listed.
For campground systems like the recreational access facilities at Corps of Engineers Lakes that show up on the recreation.gov reservation site, all that will be listed will be what is reservable, while there are often additional campsites (and whole campgrounds) at the same Corps project that do not get listed because sites cannot be reserved.
If you are looking for a certain class of RV park or RV-specific campsites in campgrounds, the best starting point I've found is RV Park Reviews, though it does not provide reservations service. What it does well is help to identify the types of campgrounds and RV parks catering to recreational RVers. - VeebyesExplorer IIDouble
- VeebyesExplorer IIThere is no few clicks site I know of. Researching CG availability sure is a world away from pre internet days. Before my time.
I plan 100 day plus trips seldom staying at a CG for more than a few days & seldom going to places we have been before.
RV Park Reviews is an important tool but RVPR does not list all CGs. Best site found for finding CGs so far is Allstays. Have not come across a CG yet that Allstays does not show.
Of course from Allstays or RVPR the next click is the CG website & availabilty from there. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIIThe closest thing to what you're looking for is probably ReserveAmerica.com. While they mostly manage reservations for government entity parks, they do manage some independent private and chain owned parks as well.
- FrankShoreExplorerNo, you can use RVParkReviews and call individual campgrounds though.
RV Park Reviews Web Site
It's the "Gold Standard" of campground listings, etc - DutchmenSportExplorerNo, unfortunately, there is no universal single entry point (wish there was). The only "single entry" search web site I know of is Google.com or Bing.com. Well, maybe some more popular search engines.
- 2oldmanExplorer IIYou mean tapping into their reservation system? Not this year.
