Do I need special cleaning products?

Thank you all so much!!! I hadn't even thought about the seal around the flap on the toilet! My toilet is porcelain but sink and tub are plastic. Just to be safe, I think I'll stick to something mild like dish soap or soft scrub. I appreciate all of the info!

If your trailer has plastic sink, toilet etc. then yes you need to be concerned about using anything that is abrasive. Never heard of an instance where dawn harmed anything and it does a pretty good job. If you have porcelain appliances then you can use anything you normally use on them at home with the caveat that they be compatable with septic systems since a high percentage of campgrounds and even RV Parking Lots, use them to dispose of your holding tank waste.

If the toilet is porcelain then it won't hurt anything at all - been using normal toilet cleaning products for years.

easily solved. DW cleans the toilet, shower, and sink BEFORE I dump, and clean the tank. So that anything she uses to clean it with is instantly washed out. The only chemical in my tank is tank chemicals.

I use regular stuff I get at the dollar store.. Nothing special.

For the porcelain bowl in my RV, I use a Clorox Toilet Wand Toilet Cleaning System w/ the disposable heads. It produces limited "suds" but gets the bowl clean. I always make sure to rinse the bowl with water to make sure the seal is rinsed well.

Most RV toilets have a rubber seal between the bowl and the flapper arm that opens when you flush. You don't want to use anything that causes that rubber seal to dry out or deteriorate. (Although it is fairly easy to replace if you need to.) Thetford, who makes most of the RV toilets, just recommends using soap and water or a "mild cleaner." They also make their own brand of cleaner specifically for RV toilets.
