- SmaxExplorerGreetings from New York
See if this helps:
http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/Pages_HTML/DodgeVINdecoder.html - navegatorExplorerSome times they would stamp the numbers in the engine area on the frame and other times they would rivet a plate with the info, they also painted or spayed the plate, if you see the rivets and it is covered you may need to remove the paint, be careful not to damage that info.
Other info might be on the firewall behind the engine area and also on the dash in front of the driver on the left corner you might find the VIN, (vehicle identification number).
The engine also has a serial number, but tha one might not be the original one since you can exchange an engine with a rebuilt one, the rebuilt engine should have the original number restamped, but some people do not do it.
The house part may also have a serial number that I do not know where they might have placed it.
Wecome and good luck with your progect.

Hi all , just joined today (paid for my new project this morning) and have many questions before I start this project .
Hope this is the correct forum ?
Where on the chassis is the chassis number ?
I need to get the paperwork correct before I take it in for re-licencing
cheers
Kris
I know export vehicles often use the same name for different chassis. Is your unit left hand or right hand drive? Is it the large Class A type or does it look like a van that's been modified? If it's a modified van, is just the front looking like a van or the whole unit looks like a van, maybe with a gland problem. There may be a plate in the drivers door. The plate or sticker may have both the manufacturers VIN and the conversion VIN. There should also be the VIN visible through the windshield. On LHD it would be in front of the drivers seat. This is so a police officer can check the VIN without a warrant. In the U.S., if it's visible from outside, police can just look in. Opening the door requires the owners permission or a warrant.
