- ncrowleyExplorer IIOne of the big reasons I live RVing is that I can safely leave the dogs in the RV when I am going somewhere I cannot take them. Many Federal parks do not allow dogs anywhere and you do not want to leave them in the car. My dogs are well behaved, quiet (unless someone tried to get in) and happy in the RV.
- K3WEExplorerOk, I am a dog owner and have left our dog in the RV a time or two. Most recently it was during driveway camping at the in-laws and I don't recall him barking.
I understand the need for this rule, but I also understand how someone could be unaware that Bowser cuts loose when your car pulls away, or when he hears "evil intruders", mail persons and garbage persons walking by.
So what's the deal- does this happen "incessantly", or "rarely"- or is the deal that when it does happen-though rarely- it really stinks?
Just after some context/insight- because I am in the 'surprised' group.
Thanks. - MarkTwainExplorerHow do you train dogs NOT to BARK BARK BARK when left alone in an RV and the owners are gone for the day????? When the BARKING is disrupting what is reasonable expected level of peaceful quietness when I am sitting in my patio area, what should be done???
1. Call the Park manager???
2. Beat on the side of the RV and yell at the dogs to quit barking???
3. Call the local police and report animal cruelty. Ask all the neighbors around the RV in question and ask to check on the dogs to quiet them down????
5. Wait till the owners return and complain to them????
Before the dog flame owners light up, yes I have owned numerous dogs but always assumed that it was MY responsibilty as a dog owner to not infringe on the rights of non-dog owners. - AcampingwewillgExplorer IIAs a Dog person, Ive seen this restriction only one time and it was spelled out, "Do not leave your pets unattented inside or outside of your RV". Most CG's will say, "dont leave pets unattented" which in MOST cases means tied up outside. I tend to agree that if my dogs are behaving, there in my RV and I have all my normal precautions for heat/power in place, then its no ones business whats going on inside the MH.

Does this phrase in a campground description mean that we aren't allowed to leave our dogs alone in the RV when we are touring?
That's how it reads to me, but that also doesn't make sense to me. I can understand not leaving them tied up outside unattended...

It's best to check with the campground staff for clarification. I've found that many places the rule only applies to dogs left tied or penned outside, but left inside the RV is ok, while others mean it exactly as written, and not left unattended at all under any circumstances. - 2oldmanExplorer II

Yeah, total denial. All he'd have to do is go around the block and come back and listen.
He told me that it must be someones elses dog as his dog doesn't bark like that. - blangenExplorerI think the "no unattended" is how they run off those that would be a problem. I've seen the clause in many, many park rules pages. If your dog, like mine, sleeps and (quietly) guards the house I'm gone... as mentioned above, what's in my rig is my own business.
And, yes... for those who would find leaving her alone at all objectionable, I have two A/Cs and auto generator start. Just saying. - Road_RunnersExplorerI have been in campgrounds where the occupants of the camper parked beside me left their dog and/or dogs alone in the camper. The dogs barked incessently all while they were gone. Once a camper nearby left the dogs alone overnight. I couldn't believe that they would bark all night. Neither my wife or I got any sleep.
I know many dogs don't bark like that, but then for those that do it makes it hell for those nearby. I once mentioned to the dog owner about his dog barking all while he was gone. He told me that it must be someones elses dog as his dog doesn't bark like that. - BumpyroadExplorer

that is exactly what it means. they don't want lonesome dogs whining and barking like crazy all day. your neighbors may not be touring. I'm starting to see why some places don't even want you to have a dog.
bumpy - TerryallanExplorer IIYep, That is what it means. They don't want you to leave your dog in your RV to possibly bark the whole time you are gone, and disturb the other campers. Or to possibly have a heat stroke should the power go off. IOn other words, You brought it, you take it with you.
