They collected the tax for MI and obtained the plate and mailed it to me when MI sent it to them. This way it can be included in part of the loan - if that's what you want. Otherwise the money comes out of your wallet.
I can't tell you if another state can do this or is willing to. Just make sure they're showing it in the loan and don' t just take your money.
Good point, and there are very few states that actually do that for MI. I believe IN does it as well. But it is not really getting
around the 6%; it still has to get paid. But like you said, this is one way to roll it into the loan (or down payment).
