windshield wiper

Has anyone changed their ww from 28 inches to a larger length? Mine do not while windshield high enough for me. Should the extra length be too much stress on motor ? And could u just change the length on one side ?
  • You should also consider using Rain-X. When you're driving the unwiped area will be just as clear as the area covered by the wipers.
  • The first thing that came to my mind when I read this post is what "PastorCharlie" said. The 28" blades can be bought at Costco for about $8.00 a blade. You bump up to 30" or larger you can be looking at $35-$55 a blade.

    Set your seat lower!
  • Make sure that the wipper blade does not touch on the upper end and also the bottom end, as long as they are on the glass and do not hit any part of the frame you will be OK, try not to run them dry for too long and run them intermittent as much as possible, if you need to adjust the travel you can always loosen the nut and reposition the arm.

  • Mine are 32 inches....they are about 3-4 times the cost of 28 inch wipers. Most parts stores carry up to 28 inch but not above.

I went to 2 in longer blades for the same reason. The only issue I see is that when the window is dry like when I use the widow washer it will not come completely back to the original position. If it is wet like like when it is raining there is no problem.
  • In general, no, adding an extra inch or so should not cause any problem.....as long as it doesn't hit anything.

BUT....to get a better quality of answers, you should specify what make, model and year of vehicle you are talking about....as well as the current wiper size and what you intend to change to.
