How much weight, if any, is needed to securely hold the elbow sewer connection in place?Not in market to buy Sewie Pig - looks too cute, too likely to walk away. In the past when we've had a sewer connection we've always pulled the hose out when the tanks needed dumping, using a tree branch fork to hold the hose in the drain, then put it away again. Never had an elbow sewer connection or felt the need for one. Last week a no-longer-camping widow gave us one, plus a ton of other RVing accessories, so having it we figure we'll be using it.

If you go to the grocery store, pickup 2 gallon Ziplock bags. You can fill them with water and add the needed weight. Dump when them out when done.

A lot of campground will have threaded sewer pipes. Those elbows screw right into them. I carry a rubber "donut" for those sewer pipes that don't have threads, then stick my elbow into the donut. Works very well. I've never (in all the years of RV ownership) ever had to put anything on an elbow to hold it down.

For those dumps without threaded connection buy a sewer donut. It goes around the hose and pushes into the sewer opening.

For those rare times where I can't get a good fit into the dump port, I have a Tyvek sand bag that weighs about 5-6 lbs.

There is an older version of the Sewer Pig called as I recall a Hose Buddy. it's a "Block" holds one gallon of water (Same as the piggie) I kind of like the pig, but I have the "Block"

Some folks use a "Sand sock"
To make one take an old pair of trousers and cut off a leg (no holes in that leg please) and sew one end closed or a long tube sock. Then fill with sand (8-10 pounds) and sew the other end closed. (Hem it) Instant sand sock.

I am currently using a campground provided rock.

Now that's a convenent way of doing things. A guy that has a hose holder could fold the bag and stash it inside the holder. Mine is in a slide out piece of plastic gutter so it would be a no-brainer. Thanks for the idea!

Where we don't have a screw in connection, I use 2 wire tent stakes and a small piece of swing set chain over the elbow.

When I sold the house I took those jars of misc screws, nuts, bolts and nails that all of us have and hardly ever use. Dumped them in a “U” I made of some 2 inch pvc, poured in some Gorilla Glue. Probably weighs about 5 lbs. Works great.

Another good cheap alternative I’ve seen. Take a standard cinder block. Knock out the sidewall for one section. Set that over the sewer outlet to keep the hose from kicking out.

My wife holds ours down with her foot and I pull the handle...or the other way around..
We play paper, scissors, rock. Winner gets their choice.

I have a jack stand that I use when there isn't a rock around. 5 lbs is probably all you'll need.
