If it came new like that I would buy it at once for the RV. V-10 runs good but climbs a little slow, but as I have said, there is no prize at the top of the hill. The diesel gets there first, but then they smell, smoke, shake, leak, parts are very high, and the motors breaks easy at the wrong time. And you bring in all the oil on the floors.Supercharged wrote:

With that 2005 Chevy 5.3 Supercharged 395HP beast, you should chew up 300 miles pretty dang quick. What's the issue?
Still have the 5.3 fast, very fast puller.
Have you considered supercharging the V10? It's not the distance, it's about the seat-time it takes to get you there. - miloExplorer IINo...No...No.. age has nothing to do with how far you travel in a days time. Travel distance & time spent on the road each day is all determined by 1 person ... DW. When she wants to stop for the day, odds are you gonna stop for the day or if she wants to continue, good bet you're gonna continue. Gotta keep momma happy. lol!
- GeocritterExplorerI hate to see decisions made because of some arbitrary age limit. I’m nearly 66 and semi-retired because apparently the brain surgeons that make the hiring decisions in corporate America feel that I’m too old and decrepit to sit in front of a computer or at a table full of data searching for the next oil prospect. The sad part is at 6’5” and 220 lbs with a Mensa level IQ, I could physically and mentally kick the butts of most of these imbeciles. It really sucks to be treated like that when you love the work you do and you’re good at it.
As for how far to drive, I’ll drive just as far every day as I feel like. Personally, I like driving best at 2am, there’s no traffic and it’s cool out so usually you don’t even need the AC on. If I’m driving cross country I’ll typically pull into a rest area around 10pm and sleep until 2am and then I’m back on the road, only at 2am I have the whole road to myself.
Steve - wny_pat1ExplorerTo each their own. I have no control over what you, or anyone else, does. Only control what I do, and even then I really have little controls.
- MartynNomadI make it a strict rule that I will never drive for more than 24 hours in one day.......

We like to do the 2X2X2 rule. 200 miles per day, arrive by 2:00 pm and stay at least 2 days. Ages 66 and 71.
Darn the pickup trip for our current 5er would have taken three day at that rate! 500 mile round trip.
I will let my body and mind tell me how far I can drive. Some days will be better than others. - noe-placeExplorerI just turned 66 and we're going to St. Augustine from southern Kentucky in two weeks. I intend to drive down only stopping for fuel or a restaurant meal. According to mapquest it's only around 683 miles or so. Like Dirty Harry said, "A man's gotta know his limitations." I'm not giving in to age until my body is cold and still. My ortho surgeon wants to replace my left knee (cartilage is gone) but I can still play 18 holes and walk the course. Don't give up people. Life is too short so fight the good fight as long as you can. The sermon is now over.:B

You can't see anything when your going down the interstate so slow down and take the back roads and see what you have been missing. I start around 9:00 am and quit around 4:30 or 5:00pm. How far I get depends on what I do in that period of time. 71 years young for now but I might feel older tomarrow.
OK. But what about the first day out when you might want to put on some real miles to go see some new territory?
