- Dick_AExplorerI have to take pause at some of the posts in this thread. If the folks own the land and are not bothering neighboring inhabitants what is the problem? I have been around a lot of construction in my 70+ years that couldn't match that quality.
As for meeting code, I have met a good number of code guys that had no idea about what they were doing and relied on that little book of rules. Just like our Constitution few knew how to interpret them. Many of them jot a gov't job due to not being able to hold one in the private sector. I am all for safe structures but much of todays nonsense is more about money than safety.:) - Ski_Pro_3ExplorerThat would work good out at the duck club.
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIThey have put a lot of money into it and could have gotten a nice Park Model for the cost.
It appears that it might have been started out as a challenging project by someone who had the money to do it. It also looks like it's placed on a large parcel like his own acreage where no one could see it from the road or other neighbors. It might also be just be used as a get-a-way cottage. - NaioExplorer IIIt's possible for something to be both ostentatious AND tacky, tasteless AND flashy. The example given was perfect for that.

Your Merriam-Webster must be different from mine. :) These are the synonyms for tacky from Merriam-Webster onlind: "cheesy, dowdy, inelegant, styleless, tasteless, ticky-tacky (also ticky-tack), trashy, unfashionable, unstylish".fj12ryder wrote:
I think you're confusing "ostentatious", "gaudy", and "decadent" with "tacky".
I submit such things are tacky, Merriam-Webster agrees. Call it "high tackiness" if you like.
Ostentatious: "flamboyant, flaring, flashy, garish, glitzy, loud, noisy, gaudy, razzle-dazzle, splashy, swank".
We'll just have to agree that it's in bad taste whatever the definition. :) - irishtom29Explorer

- mgirardoExplorerI have seen a lot worse in campgrounds.
-Michael - vic46ExplorerPersonal bias is irrelevant! The workmanship and the resulting product are amazing. A tip of the hat to the creator is truly in order. I think the resultant "residence" looks pretty cool. I don't think I would be interested in that being next door in a residential neighbourhood but, in a campground setting, I would truly be OK with it next door.
- Homer1ExplorerMan I agree with you 100% about the crappy mind numbing graphics on most of these RV's. It just gets worse each year. Now using black and yellow AAARRRGGGHHH!! Right now there is a combination rig and truck that I would probably get serious about, but the graphics on the 5th wheel are strictly for Ringling Bros.
