At what psi can I travel 65-75mph?

Just to muddy the waters some more:

Has anyone actrually looked at the tire to see what it says? I'll bet it says " Max Load XXXX at YY pressure". That does NOT indicate a maximum inflation pressure.

Well I sure miss the tire industry of old…

When every time I went to buy tires, they were better than or had longer tread wear warranties, or were actually cheaper and better than the last set I bought…

When competition guided the company to gain market share by continuously building a better product and it happened without having to be mandated…

Now mandated changes became necessary because margins became more important than quality and the marketing departments and their legal eagles learned how to guide mandates to more profitability leaving the manufactures free from blame and shifting responsibility toward the consumer…

Research and development and compounding for a continuously better product is expensive and reduces unit sales, and should be better spent on new (and higher priced products) not better existing products…
Marketing lower expectations, lower quality, and reverse engendering is much cheaper for the builder but not necessarily for the buyer and increases unit sales and margins… supporting and feeding the media about the lower expectations, consulting and guiding the investigations (just being nice here, it could be stated more harshly) of the NHTSA to support and even mandate shorter tire life cycles is a win-win for the tire industry, not a cost or burden… the only burden falls on the tire buyer in all of this…

LIE??? no… happening??? I believe it is… only time will tell, but I expect shorter warranties and tire life cycles with no cost relief and more new products at much higher prices…

So you are saying you can not make the call, because because you do not trust anyone here including yourself. So I have to ask, why are you here? You could call and just file it away with the PDF and be a happy camper, maybe? Then the gold posts could stay stationary in Hadlock at least!

I think calling is an excellent idea...provided the call is made by someone whose truth-telling integrity is beyond reproach by various factions here. Can't see much point if the results posted are followed by a bunch of "Big Liar!"-type accusations.

Does a person whose account of a conversation with Goodyear would be accepted as True exist this side of Heaven?.

I guess Good Year had the chance to answer the question, but didn’t…

Instead they choose to hide behind some industry standard that means nothing…

If someone wants to E-mail GY with a real question, ask for a link to the science and documentation behind and supporting this industry standard… or call the RMA maybe they will sell it to you, but I doubt it even exist other than in their minds…

An industry standard is almost always not the best technical solution... it's just the one that could be agreed on by some committee and not a copy of in the field trends or experience...

heck industry standard doesn't even mean that it will work or has been proven to work it could be no more than an industry objective, so unless the standard is about something that you actually have to care about, don't bother…

It is your safety and wellbeing that I care about not some standard from out of left field…

These association guys are working on ways for the industry to get deeper into your wallet all the time, and their doing it again with the ageing issue… and these bozos are where most of the marketing information we read comes from…

What difference does it make?? Read the sidewalls on your tires and it will tell you the max speed your tires are rated for as well as the max PSI. If you don't like what you are reading or don't understand it then contact the manufacturer.:S

Like can their ST tires rated 50 pounds inflation be over inflation by 10 lbs and go 75MPH? I believe their answer will be yes provide the rim/wheel is rated to at least 60 pounds inflation.

Geeeze people, what part of maximum inflation pressure don't you understand?!!!!!!

A load range C tire's max psi is 50 and a load range D is 65. If the pressure for your load from the load chart is less than the maximum sidewall pressure, then you can increase pressure up to 10psi not to exceed the max sidewall pressure.

If you want to pump them up to a pressure exceeding the max sidewall pressure and go 75mph, be my guest. But, don't complain when they go bang and the tire company denies your claim.

I just reread the sentence in the bulletin that uses the words "rated maximum load". Seems a bit obscure...is it possible they're talking about the "rated maximum load" of the axle the wheel's mounted on?

The sticking point for me is trying to understand that

is equal to

"cold inflation pressure by 10 psi (69 kPa) above
the recommended pressure for the rated maximum load".

Goodyear says the latter.
