How easy/hard is it to replace the fabric of an about-20-foot wide powered awning?This would be a one-man-with-a-stepladder job.We hardly ever use the awning but it's nice to have when we do. Kicker is that it's just the couple inches at the top where it's always exposed to sun & weather. The rest of it looks almost new, only slightly faded from the sun on top.

We took our 14' awning (manual) down to resew all the seams and edging as the thread was sunrotted and letting loose even though the awning itself was in great condition. It may have been possible for 1 person to do it, but fairly easy for 2 of us to do.

DW and I did our 20' awing, it is a manual.

Me and my BIL replaced his in no time after watching a YouTube video on how to replace one.. It was very straight forward, but would not recommend it as a 1 person job... we needed the 2 of us ( 1 on each arm ) and a 3rd as we were installing the new, that person was on the roof making sure the new favric slid cleanly into the grove.

One patient thoughtful person could do it. A second pair of hands sure would help. Remember to clean out the tracks and spray with silicone during the installation process.

I replaced the fabric on our old trailer a few years ago. It is definately a 2 man job and 3 would be better. I found a video on You Tube on how to do it. Watcedh the video a few times, then did it.

Not a hard job, but requires two people and pay attention to instructions. Hardest part is rewinding the tension springs for proper functionality.

Got to love folks that ignore the facts presented to them like the u-tube link I provided that proves your statement is FLAT OUT WRONG!

Only issue is if what I posted can be used on a powered type awning like the OP has.

Don't tell the guy HERE. I used this method and could have done it by myself, but with DW I did not have to run up and down ladders and pull the new fabric in inches at a time. Using two people sped up the process by at least an hour or so.

Just finished doing the awning replacement this evening. It is a two man job but real easy after watching the u tube videos.
