I drain the tank, give it a 2 minute flush to ensure all the solids are gone and move along so the next guy can dump. It's a holding tank for poo, how clean does it need to be? It's going to get dirty again next use.
Nope, not drinking the water, but I do want to avoid solids getting left in the tank. We camp mostly at Full Hook Up sites, so not wasting anyone's time but my own. When we do use a dump station, don't usually flush the tank unless there is no one else in line. We also don't wait in line to use the dump station. If there is a line, I just go home with full tanks and deal with them at home.

My tank went from all lights on to none (one occasionally) by following those to simple directives. In fact I didn't use my tank flusher for one season until I was ready to winterize and gave the tank a cursory cleaning.
Disagree. The only time my black tank doesn't have any content other than a few gallons of fresh water is when we're heading out on a trip as I never use campground dump stations and always tow home with content in the tank, servicing it at home using my Flojet Waste Macerator. No issues with my tank monitors, though I ignore them anyway. ;) - beemerphile1Explorer

How long do folks normally run their black tank flush?
Once per year in the fall before winter storage. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes total. - StraboExplorerHow come I always have to pee when flushing the tanks? It's weird.
- 1320FastbackExplorerBefore leaving camp I fill the Black and Gray tank with left over Fresh water.
At dump station let the Black go until is slowed down and then hook up the built in sprinkler for a minuet or two and let it flow. Close valve and let sprinkler mostly fill the tank again and open valve and let it drain again with sprinkler on. Shut off sprinkler and let it finish draining, close Black and open Gray.
If no one is waiting I'll flush Black a few more times but not a big concern, always be a desert trip next month. - bguyExplorer1 Never tow with shtuff in the tank (only to the dump site)

Probably after first or second trip.
If Im at a FHU I rinse pretty good. I think last time I drained, filled for 2-3 mins, drained again, did that probably 5 times. Just because I wasn't rushed and I could.
If Im at a dump station, I dump.. add some water, and go. Unless no one is behind me, then I will rinse and drain a few times.

I just put 2 pouches in the tank full of water and let it set for 2 days periodically running the tank flush for a few minutes to keep the water stirred up and the end result was the culprit probe still showed on when the tank was empty and allowed to dry over night.....
Well if Walex Commando didn't solve this and it's a concern for you then the obvious solution is to replace the probes with those that won't clog - Horst Miracle Probes or SeeLevel Tank Monitors That said, since faulty reading tank monitors is such a common issue many just ignore them anyway. ;) - Cummins12V98Explorer IIII do what I call "Sunday Service" every Sunday, never look at the level.
