I rented a U-Haul 6X12 this week. Noticed it had some heavy duty looking Carlisle bias plies made in USA for U-Haul. If any tire gets abused, it's going to be U-Haul trailer tires. I know radials run cooler and the tread lasts longer but, bias plies are tougher when it comes to sidewall damage from curbs and pavement edges. Something I've toyed with every time I've needed trailer tires.

The U-Haul motorcycle trailers I have rented use Carlisle tires ("Sport Trail" or "USA Trail", 20.5x8.0-10)...the other trailers usually have Goodyears. They are, as you said, exclusive to U-Haul. - TriumphGuyExplorer

Carlisle didn't change molds or tread design on the improved tire. Therefore, the only way you can tell it's the new tire is by an "RH" designation next to the model of the tire. It's Carlisle "Radial Trail RH". The "RH" designates the new model with the nylon cap and improved heat resistance.
The old tire was just called "Radial Trail".
Trying to bring this thread back from the brink ... I admit I'm no big fan of Carlisle and switched to LT tires years ago. However if they've added a nylon cap it may be worth another look. My issues with them were all tread separations and while one can argue from an overall theoretical design standpoint if a cap is necessary, it is an additional measure to keep that tire together.
I'd like to see how they applied that cap. If others are not reporting issues it may be worth a try vs. my route of new wheels etc... - Me_AgainExplorer IIIU-Haul for years has had special HD tire manufactured and branded for them. Note them to not have to worry about decrease MPG. Chris

I wonder if the Bass Master guys are still running on Carlisle's? I would assume that a few failures and flipped tournament boats would make for a brand change.
FWIW, I'm rolling on ST205-15-load D RH and haven't had any issues.
Do you know for a fact your scenario is what happened? If you do-please share with us the links.
He's saying that if all those guys had any major issues, its assumed there would be a change in sponsor. Nothing was worded as a statement of fact.
But while they sponsor many events, only the teams who are sponsored directly would be mandated to run the sponsors product. I believe this company sponsors more events than actual teams, but it would take a a lot of research to find out for sure.
Reminds me of a Tennis player who preferred Head Tennis racquets but was sponsored by Addidas.... They took the head Racquets and put Addidas logos on them for the game Racquets. At least that's what I heard. Bahahahah...Lol.
Maybe Carlisle sponsors the boats but all the trailers are actually running Michelin Rib tires.
Thanks!

SLS is in attack mode.:R Now he's even attacking a satisfied Carlisle tire owner who was bragging on his Carlisle RH tires.

Wow! 11 posts in this thread! Most railing against the dreaded "tire haters".
So what is your motivation? Are you in some way connected to Carlisle? Sure looks that way. Every time a thread come up regarding Carlisle, one can find your posts extolling their virtue and proclaiming all other opinions to be "tire haters".
Time will certainly tell. History has shown that these ST tire generally are not a problem on smaller light weight trailers. When someone shows up having used these tires on a big 5er over 12,000 lbs for over 2 years, maybe then there will be a reason to take notice.
Let's here from some of those with the ST 235-80-16 tire in use.
