Clean water

The DW and I both don't care for the hose taste of water so we do this. We buy gallon jugs of water from WalMart for 88 cents each and use them just for drinking water. Sure makes the taste of coffee and tea better or even brushing our teeth. Use the hydrant water for showers and flushing the stool, etc.

  • Everyone uses a drinking water hose. Still a long run from tap to coach can put some plastic and taste into the water. We try to park close as possible to tap and coil any unnecessary hose under the coach. Have two or three short hoses and medium length and long hose.
Some put a half, of a four inch pvc pipe, over the top, to shield from sun.
Final filter is inside the bay.
Run the inside, tap for a minute to clear any possible taste etc from the water.
With the drinking water hose and filter(s) we have always had good tasting water.
  • Campground water will vary depending on whether the water is treated water or well water. I've started using a in line water filter, around $13 which helps a lot. But, often we do the same...bottled water for drinking and making coffee......ohhh so important for coffee. Some water from both wells or municipalities can destroy the taste of coffee!!!

we do the same as you do except we use the fresh water to brush our teeth. I have great tasting well water so I fill the gallon jugs at the house.
  • We buy gallons for cooking and bottles for drinking. We usually use the RV water mainly for washing and toilet. We are not full time though. If we were parked in one spot for a while it would be different.
  • While old garden hoses always have a "hose" taste, I can't say I've ever notice such a taste from a white hose make for drinking water?
