Decrease step rise.

Any one found a way to decrease the the rise in an rv step? Top step to enter rv has about 11" rise which is very difficult for my wife to navigate. Is there any portable step addition you can put on a step to decrease the rise? I realize if you decrease the rise in one step you will increase the rise in the prior step. Thanks.
  • We had a 3 step but ended up buying the hickory springs Quad step. it's a bolt on replacement most of the time.
It ends up being around 8" IIRC, but having a fourth step means it sticks out farther and has more flex when you step on the first step
  • I am surprised a company would install steps that don't have a consistent rise from beginning to end (Finish Floor). I would not fiddle with decreasing the rise of the last step. You just make the next step a problem.
  • i would think that the only cure would be to install a new set of steps with one more step.

  • Yup.

My TT came with a stair that had one step down, then the ground, making each step a nominal 12 inches. I removed that and replaced with a stair with two treads instead of just one, making each step a normal 8 inches. Took me about an hour to do for a permanent fix.

I would caution you to avoid doing anything that makes the steps (however many there are) uneven. There are safety reasons uneven steps are forbidden in new construction everywhere.
