- tenbearExplorerI've never noticed any unusual tire wear on my toad. Been towing a car since 2004, but not always the same one.
- WILDEBILL308Explorer IINo wear no problem.
Bill - lostdogExplorerNo additional wear noted from the towing 4 down. Also I rotate the tires about every 6 or 7 thousand miles, just to balance any additional wear on the front tires. But...when it came time to replace all four tires the dealer could not understand why the tires were so worn out from only 26000 miles. I didn't tell him that I had over 22000 miles on them behind the MH! (The Jeep does not rack up miles on the odometer when being towed.)
- traveylinExplorerNo conclusive evidence but I do believe that the front tires of my toads have worn faster than normal usage, during the 30000 miles of towing. Not an issue because I will cycle off tires on a toad 50% faster than normal street usage. I really do not want a tire failure on a toad.
pops - Tom_BarbExplorerI rotate my tires, no difference noticed
- HarvardExplorerI have a Roadmaster Falcon 5250 with the telescopic arms. In the beginning I did not bother to extend the arms to the full extension before pulling the MH ahead.
After destroying a few toad front tires it finally dawned on me that by allowing the toad to be yanked one way or the other ON PAVEMENT the tires were scuffed as the toad figured out where it was going.
This learning experience took awhile, it was not until I saw the skids it made in the gravel driveway at home did I put two and two together.:S
Now, once the toad is hooked up, I get in the car and use the engine/reverse to extend the arms to a locked position, and then making sure the front wheels are pointing straight ahead BEFORE the MH goes anywhere. - RaymonExplorer

I have always thought that the edges of the tread on front tires round off a little but I have never had what I would call uneven. They were always pretty even.
I tow a Jeep Wrangler. The first time I towed, I noticed the outer and inner edges on the front tires were scuffing. I increased the air pressure in the front tires about 4 psi. The tires no longer scuffed. Worked for me; you may want to try it.
