Dog owners!

We do not take ours with us. The old guy is just not comfortable anyplace but home, and the Boxer is just to much of a wild card to have around other dogs.

Leave your dogs at home, leave your hogs at home, leave your cellphone at home, leave the beer/booze at home, leave the kids at home, leave the monster diesel at home, it'll be an empty campground.

That's a unique take on it.......

Not the dog owners responsibility/fault it's the neighbors problem and they are responsible for 'dealing' with it.

Yes it is a communal setting and because it is, aALL parties involved in that communal setting need to be aware of how their actions impact others.........and to be more considerate so as to minimize the impact so ALL can enjoy.
It's called being a good neighbor.

That's when mine bark the most. We fulltime so our options are limited. One is to take a short trip and check with the neighbors if there was a problem. Another is to leave the webcam on to see what's up while you're gone. Ours sleep when we are gone. The other is to see if the park has a dog walker. We have found lots of places that has a resident who likes to make a couple of extra dollars. And taking them for a long walk before you leave helps also.:W

Our dogs are used to the MH and used to having us be gone, and to the best of my knowledge, have never barked for an prolonged periods. They seldom back at all without provocation (their favorite being other dogs walking by or being outside next to our MH. But just in case, having a note on the window is a good idea. We always had one when we lived on a boat, because of the many emergencies that can arise there, and we have one on each outside door at the house, in case of fire, but had never thought about it with the MH.

It is a never ending battle that really could be solved with a little tolerance combined with consideration for others.

I don't think people want to ban dogs. I would not like that.

I also don't think that the CG makes a difference. We do not camp in private CG's. We camp in provincial or federal parks. Noise aso seems to travel over open water.

Last year we were somewhere that 2 units came in together. The spaces are quite far apart. You can't see other peoples units. Anyway, they chained their dogs up the minute they got there and before the hands left the collars the dogs started. Non stop. Most people were out hiking or on the lake so they were away from the sites. They were still barking when we got back and apparently barked all day with the owners sitting beside them. The dogs obviously did not like the chain.

After complaining the next day they left their dogs in their unit. When they returned the dogs had chewed everything they could find, furniture, everything. They went around expecting others to pay for the damage since they had to put their dogs inside. .

I haven't read all 4 pages of this thread. I leave my dog in the camper and after I drive away he shuts up. (I've snuck back to check) If he didn't I would put a "Bark Collar" on him. There not perfect but, after awhile the dog will get tired of the occasional shock and shut up. I've used it on my dogs and if they don't shut up when I tell them too all I have to do is walk out with the collar in my hand and threaten them with it and they get quiet right away. In fact the batteries in it are dead but, they don't know that (so don't tell them) and it still does the trick.
