- myredracerExplorer IIProves how many people simply can't read. Begs the question, how did they ever get their driver's licence in the first place?
People in general don't read road signage - for example, note how many don't read speed limit signs. Think of all the money governments could save by not putting in any traffic signs. :B - DSDP_DonExplorerIt's sad, but I can't get enough of watching those bridge videos.
- Matt_ColieExplorer III like the Australian tunnel that projects a GIANT STOP SIGN on a water curtain when a too-tall something approaches.
Matt - dodge_guyExplorer IIThat bridge is obsolete! it needs to raised, or lower the street! obviously it`s a high truck area, so it seems only normal too make truck friendly. "no one has gotten hurt.....yet". seems they are going to wait till someone gets badly hurt before they decide to fix it! and when that happens they are going to pay more because they knew about a dangerous problem. its not like this bridge is on a lightly traveled side street. then again the bureaucrats who run it probably like the money generated from the tickets, until the day comes they have to pay out bigtime, signs or not they are ignoring a potentially fatal problem.

- IDoMyOwnStuntsExplorerI've been following this bridge for awhile. 11foot8.com has some of the highlights of this bridge opening a few trucks.
My favorite was the guy in the 5th wheel that drove through, knocked off both air conditioners, and kept going. That's going to make for an awkward camp setup. - Gene_GinnyExplorerDOT officials said the systems cost about $130,000 apiece.
There is a mall parking garage that we have gone to a few times. It has a height limit BUT before you get to the entrance there is a sign with the limit hanging from a long chain at each end of the sign. The bottom of the sign is about 2 inches lower than the garage clearance. If you hit the sign you don't go in the garage but the sign just swings on that 5 foot of chain. MUCH less expensive than a $130,000 laser system and isn't subject to power failures. - CavemanCharlieExplorer III108,000 dollars for the new laser sign would be a lot less then fixing the bridge but, it would pay for a small share of it.
Around here they would just fix the bridge. But, not right away. Would take about 10 years. - NYCgrrlExplorer

I am reminded of the 8 foot railroad bridge here in Billings.
Yes, that's right, EIGHT FEET of clearance!
Actually it hasn't collected any trucks or campers for quite a while. Perhaps people are finally realizing the 8 feet isn't very high!
Here's hoping you someday reach Branford, CT. Somewhere near Indian Neck Avenue is a railroad/highway bridge with a clearance of about 6 feet before they decided to excavate the road downward to up the clearance. Maybe they weren't thinking about how prone the area was to flooding at the time:S.
On the bright side a ring side seat at 'The Lobster Shack' off the banks of the..Stony Creek will provide you with views of the bridge underpass and good eats. - NYCgrrlExplorer

Another stop sign? Not sure if it will help. The Aussies have systems that spray fine water drops onto the air, then use a laser array to light up a big "STOP" sign, and even then, a lot of truck drivers do the "can opener" trying to drive into a tunnel.
Don't think it's just another stop sign; thought it was a traffic light with a laser apparatus that triggers a red light and audio message.
