E2 or E4 fastway hitch for my new camper?

2013 ram 1500...buying tracer 2670bh... 5300 pounds..roughly 650 hitch weight.. dealer is adding an E2 fastway hitch. from what I understand this is weight distribution plus partial sway control... I am thinking of upgrading to the E4.. dealer says I probably don't need it.. its $200.00 more... what is the main difference? will it be over kill over the E2? I want the safest setup that I can get, but I also don't want to go overboard and get too much if not needed? im new to all this..thank you

I'd get the 4 way if it was mine. Check RV Wholesalers to be sure dealer is giving you a good price.

  • I would spring the extra money for the 4 way hitch. It has much more sway control than the E2. Just make sure you get the proper weight WD bars as they are not interchangeable if you get the wrong size.

The E2 hitch gets its' sway control from the WD bar/L bracket interface.
The 4 way hitch gets its' sway main sway control from the WD bar socket/hitch head interface and its' secondary sway control from the WD bar/L bracket interface just as the E2 does. There is not nearly as much friction generated at the L brackets as there is at the hitch head.
