Equalizer hitch with sway control

Has anyone used the Camco Trekker?

:H The Equalizer IS a friction based anti sway system. Often folks use the TERM Equalizer in place of Weight Distributing System but Equalizer is a brand of weight distributing hitch that DOES use friction based anti sway integrated into the hitch.

Reece Duel Cam is a system that uses detents in the spring bars fitting into cams to proactively control sway. Friction based anti sway will exert the same force in KEEPING the trailer/tow in a curve position as it does in keeping it straight. The Duel Cam exerts nearly zero force when straightening out from a turn but a whole LOT of force to maintain that straight line when going straight.

The Equalizer is a very GOOD hitch so don't think I'm putting it down. Just understand that it IS a friction based system.

The Dual Cam is also a friction based system ,although more refined than the others.

Either one wiould be a good choice rather than the traditional WD hitch. There are others also.

Equilzer owner here, and it's a good hitch, but on that size trailer, check out the new Anderson hitch for your needs. Google the topic and read a bunch. Good solution for those with small trailers and the need for something simple.

You said you don't want something complicated to set up, and I don't know what you consider "complicated", but the Equilizer and Dual Cam require some thought and effort to set up correctly. Once that's done, they're both good choices. The Anderson is much simpler and might suit you better considering the size of your trailer.

I am surprised that you get much sway at all with your setup. I towed a similar trailer for many miles with a 2500HD with no WD and had no complaints. Sometimes we rush to judgment on what will cure our problems. A new hitch is not always the answer. Tires, tongue weight, axle alignment, and other things might be worth looking at before spending money on a fancy hitch that may not be necessary. I like to buy things too, so I understand where you are coming from.

Long time equalizer owner here with just slightly larger trailer and similar truck. Equalizer hitch fits easily into the stock receiver of your truck and then slide in the 2 bars and clip them in and you are off to the races. You will need to bolt in 2 pieces that bolt up around your trailer frame as well at the beginning but they stay there for good and don't get removed. Get them set to the proper height as there are several settings.The hitch head also has a few settings as well but once done that is it. Once you have the hitch setup correctly it only takes a few minutes to hitch and unhitch the trailer. If you have a power jack it even makes it easier if you are not sitting level as you can adjust your height to make it easier to swing the bars in and out. We have travelled thousands of miles with ours and don't worry at all about sway from the trailer even on windy days which we get many living close to the mountains. If those are your loaded weights,
your sway might be caused by two small a tongue weight percentage -- 680/6600 = 10.3%.

You might want to change the loading of the TT to see if you can get the tongue weight percentage up to about 13%
That might eliminate your sway problem.

My trailer is nearly exact same weight and length as yours, and I am pulling with a 2500HD also. I have zero sway when being passed by tractor trailers, and only time I can ever say I get sway is on very windy days it seems my entire rig gets pushed around a bit but that may be expected.
BEFORE, buying into a new expensive system, take your set-up to the nearest rv dealer and have them check your setup for proper set up.
OR what I did was I added a second friction type anti sway bar to my set-up. Anything over 25' you are actually supposed to be using two of them not one. I ordered one online (they make them specifically for drivers side of your rig), and installed it and it was a cheap fix for my sway.
