I have a Gulf Stream Atrium motor coach with a Cummins 400 ISL on a Freightliner chassis.The power steering pump has developed a small leak around the pressurerelief valve.I would like to put a seal kit on it to fix the problem but I do notwant to disassemble the pump unless I have an available pump replacementavailable in case the seal kit does not do the job.I called Freightliner and they advised they do not have the pump I need(part #14-14234-000) and they would have to manufacture one with a lead time of over 120 days and a cost of $2000.00 which, in my opinionborders on extortion but that's just my opinion....My question to you all: does anyone have ANY idea where I mightbe able to purchase a used, re-manufactured or new pump for my rig?I've called most all the parts places I could find on the Internet tono avail.Any help greatly appreciated.

Coolbreeze...That be the one....but the $2000.00+ is what I was talking about.I haven't talked to "findit" but the price they're quoting is aboutwhat Freightliner quoted as well and that pump is not worth $2000.00unless of course you're like me and it's the only one in the worldwhich takes me back to my original statement regarding extortion.I'd bet five bucks that if I call "findit" they'd tell me there wouldbe at least a 120 day lead on it....Thank you very kindly for taking the time to find it...I very muchappreciate it.

I think that's my best bet, CC. I think I'll buy a case or two of
ATF and just keep checking it on the way home and hope for the best.

How bad is it leaking? If you don't want to fix it on the road can you just keep the fluid topped off until you get home? In most cases that is what I would try to do. If you don't make it you are no worse off then you are now.

I wonder if any of the places that part out RV's would have one? I have had good luck finding parts from Visone RV.
I would also call around and see where old truck and bus chassis end up after they have seen better days. Usually the mechanical parts outlast the rest of the rig.

You said it was a small leak, deal with it until you can get a pump. If you are truly that paranoid deal with the price. However, I bet a 99.5% chance that it can be repaired. If you still don't like the odds don't know what else to say.

They probably do not have one because everyone rebuilds rather than replaces. If you are that paranoid about being stuck, my only suggestion is find a wrecked rig, buy the pump, have *that* pump rebuilt (after all, cannot trust a used part). Or order a new one and wait.

Have you gone to a good hydraulic shop and had them look at it? If you were in my area, I would send you to Rock at Skagit Hydraulic. Chris

If you can't find a suitable spare as a backup, perhaps you can find a hydraulics shop that you could take this pump to. I know there are shops that specialize in rebuilding pumps for various industries. You could even locate a shop, attempt the repair yourself and if it was not the seals that you replaced take the pump to the shop.

Like you Dave, I have not seen everything. Call me paranoid but I
don't want to remove the pump and relief valve without having another
one available within a reasonable amount of time. If for whatever
reason the pump I took off was not able to be put back on because the
threads or internal workings got messed up during applying the
re-sealing kit I would be stranded because there is no other pump to
replace it with...used new, re-built, whatever...I'd be stranded for
over 120 days!
They make a seal kit for the pump and I am sure it will fix the
problem...but I can't afford to take the chance of it doing something
that might make the pump totally unusable...I can at least at this
point move short distances and then refill the hydraulic reservoir!

Like I said....old and paranoid.
