- Lew_SchillerExplorerJust the other day I used a Penny's Socket Extension. I still have the ratchet as well. Must have had those for close to 50 years now.

I just took my 3/8 in socket wrench in last month for a replacement because the ratchet mechanism no longer worked. The wrench was probably 50 years old and they replaced the ratchet mechanism at no charge. They would have replaced with a new wrench if they had one in stock but I did not want to wait for one to come in.
I wonder about Sears Hand tools, is the lifetime warranty still good ? They sold the tool division to Ace Hardware (I think it was Ace.
Had the same experience accept they said if they didn't have the repair kit they would have replaced it with a chinese current model. In my case I had already taken it apart and cleaned it and only needed a locking ring that went flying across the room when I took it apart. It was alright inside just needed cleaning. They cleaned it again in their special solvent, lubed and reassembled with a new lock ring. No charge. Works like it did when I bought it in 1972. - GjacExplorer III

How about a replacement for the Sears Muzzler muffler? I think we got 10+ of them replaced before Sears stopped selling mufflers and refunded the full purchase price. I actually felt bad when they refunded the money after all those years and replacements.
That was s sound business practice. Sears is going under. I wonder why :?
I'm sure the fact that Sears has been driven into the ground, by a weird Billionaire with a very odd sense of retail "best practice", probably ranks a few hundred spots higher on the " Why is Sears taking forever to die" list, as compared to free car exhaust parts. - Dad had a K_mart lifetime battery. Was replaced twice before the family truckster was stolen. The replacements were standard 48 month as the offer had stopped but as long as you had the receipt K-mart would pop one in as needed. Yes lifetime meant as long as the original purchaser continued to own the specific vehicle.

I bought Corell Livingware with the lifetime warrantee 40 years ago. Took them with me full time RVing and a whipsaw event cast most of them onto the floor in a disaster of smashed plates. NO ONE wanted to honor the warranty...even with a receipt. Tried several stores, even was met with silence from Corell. Heh. Guess they didn't expect anyone to keep them that long or something.
Just my thoughts but the lifetime warranty may not consider "whipsaw events" as a warranted type of product failure, unless they were in use at the time of the failure. Most warranties don't cover loss due to accidental damage. That would be an insurance claim.
I would feel pretty silly going in and telling them the dishes were broken because of intentional damage, rather than accidental. :)
UNCONDITIONAL guarantee against breakage. Thing is they just stopped honoring it. Still, I had hope for a few hours. - nineoaks2004ExplorerI wonder about Sears Hand tools, is the lifetime warranty still good ? They sold the tool division to Ace Hardware (I think it was Ace.
- JimBollmanExplorerOne of the local muffler shops had lifetime mufflers and I caught them in their game. When you went in for a replacement they cut off all the pipe clamps and charged you for them, not a lot so you didn't get upset to much. The spots where they heated up the pipes to burn off the clamps would then rust out very quickly and you would come back and they would charge for all new pipes. The second time around I specifically told them not to touch any of the clamps accept at the muffler. Sold the car before the pipes rusted out that time.
- colliehaulerExplorer IIII had one of the JCP's lifetime warranty batteries in my 66 Buick Wildcat. The battery went with the car when sold. I think they had already closed the auto centers.
Wonder what people will do to get there Sears warranty. They have all closed around here. - turbojimmyExplorerI remember my dad would torture JC Penny with that lifetime battery, and he was really PO'd when they stopped replacing it. He had it in his '67 Vette (which he still has) and he rarely drove it (and still rarely drives it). The battery would die pretty much annually from not being used.
Which reminds me - I have to throw the charger on the Wal*Mart battery in the Allegro....
