Help with numbers please

When you load the truck wand trailer drop by the scales and weigh the trucks front and rear axles separately with special attention to the trucks 6100 RAWR as its carrying about all the load.
Fords 17" tires may be good for around 3200 lbs however Fords 17" OEM wheels are rated at 3195 lb so don't go over about 6390 lb on those 17" wheels.

Now if you have the 18" or 20" option then those OEM wheels carry a 3590 lb rating or around 7000 lb on the rear axle.

Above those 7xxx numbers and you may have to mod the trucks rear suspension with higher rated wheels/tires and maybe air bags to safely carry the load.
Scale numbers always tells the actual weight story.

Thanks for all the replies. I was getting a little nervous. Looks like will be close to the max weight, or slightly over but I’m not one to pushing more than 60mto 65 mph when towing and drive conservatively when towing.

Signed the papers on the 2015 5th wheel on Saturday.

One more question, which I may need to post under a different subject topic. For those of you towing a similar set up did you add the Timbren lifts or add air bags to keep the truck level?

Stay within the axle and tire ratings and you'll have a good combo. My belief that is true on all light duty trucks.

2500 series trucks are a great match for many if not most fifth wheels I see in the places I stay.

As usual I recommend keep the trailer GVWR within the 15,100 tow rating.
OK maybe a little more but you are at the max, drive accordingly.

Lol, you're right. Add some bags or springs if it's a little squishy. Otherwise fine.

the 3/4 and 1 ton models are on the same skeleton. The 1 ton will have an extra leaf in the spring pack. Another thing that may be hindering your tow capacity is the 355 gearing. If you contact Ford they may tell you what effect changing to 373 or even 410 gears may make and what changes you can safely make to the suspension. They may also go cya and tell you you can't do anything. It could be worth a phone call or email. If you decide to go with a bumper pull you can easily manage 10,000# plus with that truck.

Diesel trucks weigh a lot, but 3/4 ton trucks are restricted by class to a max of 10k lbs GVWR. That means the payload sticker is generally pretty low, even though the truck itself is generally as or close to as capable as the equivalent SRW 1 ton truck. Just stay within your axle ratings and you'll be totally fine. I would guess you've got at least 3,000 lbs to play with on your rear axle. If you're close on weight you can use an Andersen hitch to save a bit (plus they work great).

If I’m following the question the total weight capacity of the truck from the sticker on the door is 10,000. So minus the weight of the truck, around 7.5 to 8K (but I will need to verify) seems there would be about 2 to 2.5K available for payload. Sound like it will be close.

Look at the sticker on your door jam. It should tell you max payload of your truck. My guess is that it will be right at 2500lbs, maybe a bit less, depending of trim level.
5vrs typically put 20-25% of their weight on the pin, so in your case, you would be probably be a bit over your payload.
In general, 3/4 ton diesel pickups and 5vers are not the best combo.
Having said all that, the question is will it tow your 5ver, sure. Will it be safe, probably. Will it be within the manufacturers tow and payload ratings, probably not.
