- myredracerExplorer IIThat is terrible and I hope you get something reasonable from the insurance company.
Based on what I've read, I thought RVs were s'posed to last 10 years before they self destruct? Hard to believe the camper is only 7 years old. I thought storing inside a barn or carport was the very best thing to do..
We have the concrete foundation for a carport. So if we spend $10K or whatever it would cost, if we framed and finished it, that could accelerate the eventual demise of our TT? Maybe a basic RV cover is the better choice?? - Water-BugExplorer

Water Bug...I sent an email to the insurance man telling him that the condition of the camper was worsening. He said and I quote. " oh (my name) i am so sorry. We will take of that when it is taken in to get fixed." They were specifically told and the adjuster was out and knew just where she sat. I even asked if I should tarp, another quote "don't worry about that, we'll take care of this right away."
And the insurance has aready stated many things in the contrary to your beliefs. And again I had asked for someone that this has happened to. I do not wish to be considered neglectful in your opinion. As this is not so. I have already apologized for being a poor historian, but a slacker or a falsifier I certainly am not Sir. Why would I let something go if I know I could never get it back. That makes no sense. I was raised a whole lot different then the average Jane I guess. I have morals, and lying and misguiding are not part of them.
I never said that you lied or misguided anyone. I simply stated how your insurance company may view your actions. Verbal statements and even emails from a claims adjuster are probably meaningless if they are contrary to a written contract. Just like statements from a car salesman. - winnietreyExplorerOne thing I don't understand though, is why after the damage was discoverd, why did you not move the unit under cover? Seems like you may have some personal responsibily here. If you did not try to mitage the damage. Don't know not an attorney, just thinking out loud
- jspence1ExplorerI went through an insurance company battle last summer, it took 7 months and reports from three different RV repair places to get my money. My claim was rejected 4 times before I was able to finally resolve it. Your single biggest mistake was not taking photos, without proof of the condition when it left your possession it will be a battle. I've started taking photos at the beginning and end of every season just to have a record on the off chance something happens again.
- winnietreyExplorerIf it were me, I would do three things, if the insurance company does not give you satifaction.
#1 understand the ins co is not in the business of paying claims, they are in the business of collecting premiums. I would not take their word as gospel as far as how the incident occured.
#2 find your own expert, rv appraiser, Rv repair guy someone to give an expert opinion on how this happened. And get it in writing, spend some money to do this.
#3 Once you have and expert opinion, hire a attorney, to review the contract and see if this is a covered loss.
But I would give the ins co a chance first, see if they step up. if not I would go with the above.
As for value, look at NADA, (retail price) Shop other dealers to find a similar rig. Get the prices in writing so you have something to give the ins co in the event they try to lowball you
Just my opinion on how to proceed.
It is not my intent here to slam ins co's. It is just business with them. I have no idea what caused the problem, or if should be a covered expense. All I am saying is don't take what they say as gospel, without doing some investigation on your own. - dave17352ExplorerI don't see why it would be a insurance issue. Unless it was the manufacturers insurance.
- garyhauptExplorerelijahsdream ..you will have by now come to the realization that many on this forum want all the juicy details, and in turn will take you to task and tell you how it is all your own fault, will suggest that you are hiding something, or, at the very least, tell you how you are about to be left out in the cold.
My suggestion is...get a lawyer and stop trying to find a solution here. None of the posters, so far, have offered you a way to resolve this.
Using a computer to try and deal with a very emotional issue like the loss of your camper will not bring you much in the way of happiness. I do hope that you continue to post and join us as a regular member, offering your wisdom on various subjects.
Gary Haupt - tbredExplorer III am very sorry you have to go through all this. Have you saved all the e-mails from the insurance co.? If so, you may have something to go on. Do you have the trailer paid for? Hoping in worst case scenario, insurance would at least pay off balance (if there is one) Your insurance agent should really go to bat for you, especially considering you performed as insurance co. told you to.
Best of luck! - elijahsdreamExplorerWestend. Thank you for your time. I am the mom and this is my camper. And I am hoping that if I save the money that I make in payments every month, that I may then buy a different camper. But my problem is my boys are growing everyday. That is sad. Kinda feel like a failure. But suck it up and move on. I don't know if there is anyone out there that has had similar problems but I am hoping they find them.
And you are so right. I wish we knew just what happened. But I am floored to see all of the damage that has arisin in 1.5+months. It is staggering. Guess it's kinda hard for you all to understand, but standing inside at the end of May with a little bubble in the wall covering, no soft spots, no ripples, the side table was in perfect condition. To now where everything would need replaced. Wow.
The shop man echoed your statement- "you don't want it back even if it was fixed." And I understand but I do. Separation anxiety.
