Nobody conterfits ones! Just ask for a cash transaction and you will only take ones. If they follow thru you know they are serious! ;)

When I sold my MH last fall, the buyer wire transferred the monies. At the recommendation of my bank, I set up an new checking account into which the funds were wire transferred. The buyer had some of the money, but had to borrow some. The buyer first wire transferred money into my new account. As soon as the money was deposited into my new account, I immediately transferred the funds into my old checking account. The buyer's loan institution did the same. The reason for the new account was that I did not have to give the buyer my old account number and routing number, only the numbers for the new account. I transferred the monies immediately to my old account so that the buyer had no way to access my old account. Because some scammers are so smart, I did not want them to find a way to access my old account and withdraw all the monies they deposited plus all my own money after they had possession of the title. I later closed the new account. May seem like a lot of work, but it worked for me. My buyer was strictly upfront and honest, but what does a scammer look like? I wish you the best.

When I helped my parents sell their MH, the MH was at my house, since it is closer to Interstate and major highways and easier to find and access. My parents lived 40 miles away and the purchaser traveled about 6 hours to buy. Going to either bank was out of the question, so buyer simply brought cash. Actually they brought cash when they came to look after several phone calls and lots of pictures emailed. They came back 2 weeks later and picked up MH and had decided to buy toad at that point, so brought cash for it then. Although it was a large amount of cash, parents bank with small town bank and have known the banker since he was a young boy. The bank helped with the paperwork for the large cash transaction. Mom just showed the bill of sale we made and copy of the signed title.

When we bought our current M/H we bought it from a private seller. He owed money on it so he didn't have the title. I went to my bank and talked to the branch manager. She set the entire deal up, did the payoff via wire transfer. She had them send the title to my bank. When it came in she called me (2-3 days) and I went to pick it up. She took care of everything including taking the money out of my account.

The seller was happy with the way it was set up. He got a check from his credit union for the overage.

Let the bank handle it for you. It's a FREE service they provide their customers. They know how do deal with all types of situations and are professionals. They will insure the checks you get for your RV are real and the money is there to back it up.

DON'T turn over ANY keys or give possession until you know the REAL MONEY, not check, is in your account.

If they have the money, then a bank to bank transfer is the only way to do it! If it is from his finance company they too can do a transfer. I did a $65K sale and he transferred at 10AM and my bank had it in my account at 2PM, we did the paperwork at 2:30. Both of us happy.

I sold my Roadtrek yesterday. I asked for a cashier's check and took the check to my bank and had them call the buyer's bank to confirm that the cashier's check was legitimate.

Only after I had confirmation that the check was good, did I release the keys to the new owner. He was in full agreement with that.

Most honest buyers would not object to having their payment confirmed. If a buyer does object, I would not sell to him.

When we bought our trailer from a private owner we did a direct wire transfer bank to bank.

Whenever I've had to do high dollar transactions, I have my bank make the transfer arrangements.

Cash or a wire transfer.
